Living by Giving

Poetry in the spirit of the Christmas Season

Her light is still shining on me,

a light of self-sacrifice,

living by giving,

herself – away to others,

and living by loving –

everyone, regardless of creed.

Hands reaching, heart reaching,

I don’t have her calling,

but I’m inspired by her example,

help me God to love,

not to preach sermons,

but to give to others,

to do, and to help,

and lay myself,

down on the altar,

of self-sacrifice,

by giving.

Note: It’s true that just one life can make a difference. She left her homeland when she was only 18.

Blessings of peace to you this season!

  1. UM we have this in common as well! This little woman changed my life with her beautiful words. When my girl was in the hospital for 28 days I have Mother Teresa’s good No Greater Love and the small little things she said were huge to me. I love this post! 😀 I’m catching up on your blog! 😀
