In August

Maine and More 054

In August I think of the park,

by the lake, with the picnic table,

I was your knight on one knee,

humbled by your love,

my queen.

It was a royal season,

victories won without banners,

scars erased, swords put away,

winning purple velvet,

throwing away burlap.

For the first time,

we trusted,

gold and silver,

came to the surface,

we never knew,

what love was, until,

we discovered the safety,

of each other.

It began in August,

in the park, by the lake.

    1. I proposed in August, “on one knee” had several meanings there. My wife is very private about dates but we did get married later and been going strong since then. Natalie congratulations on 52 years! Just awesome! You are a wonderful source of encouragement and blessing. Peace my friend and God bless.
