The Reluctant Warrior

Oceans 2031

No one ever told him,

he would need the mountains,

the wholeness and healing,

of peace,

the Creator breathing.

No one ever told him,

there would be explosions,

tearing the sky,

battles raging, bloodied swords,

his Queen imploding.

He fights on,

only because he has to,

he would rather live in a tree,

sleep on some rocks,

while the sky is healed, by clean water.

He picks up his sword anyway,

the shield,

armed with words,

and a clean heart,

he fights.

No turning back,

no confession of cowards,

He will live, in the mountains,

because the mountains live,

in him.

    1. Erika this a very big honor! I am humbled by it but I stopped accepting awards in July. Your nomination, your continued support, and your words of encouragement are a tremendous blessing. Thank you! Peace and blessings.

      1. You are right, I remember. But you know what? I would have nominated you anyway 😉 Just as a sign that you are very apprecited 😊

  1. “He lives in the mountains, because the mountains live in him”…
He is a courageous warrior, though it feels like he wants to live for something or someone else then battles, blood and terror; that’s why he seeks healing from the Mother Nature who revives him over and over again, strengthening to move forward and win one more battle, as a reward to see one more day in the beauty of the fading sun, and rising of a new day..
    Beautiful 🙂

  2. Wow! Such a powerful piece!
He fights because he has to same as we do with this life of ours. We don’t give up just because things get tough, we find our resolve and just keep going!

    1. My friend I cannot thank you enough for your comments! I think you are one of the few that understood this. We do fight because we have to, and sometimes it is tough. Circumstances can seem too big for us to handle, but we can be strengthened, and we go on. Thank you! Peace and every good blessing to you.

  3. This made me laugh a little bit. Your queen can’t seem to survive without you. Still laughing…

    Beautiful poem!

      1. Peace to you my friend and ditto. You are one heck of a talented writer, this particularly is just lovely xxx

    1. Thank you Inese. Yes, it was meant to be, because the struggles in life can be like that. Whatever hardships we face, we need to keep going on and keep fighting. Peace and blessings to you.
