Living in the Blue

Maine and More 305

Living in the blue means we allow ourselves to discover

the depths, the heights, the amazing and endless boundaries

of love, holding onto the water, grasping the sky

they both declare that blue is the color of victory.

Why else would the fish and the birds live there?

Teaming with life, with only a thin veil

between us and eternity, the stars

living in the blue means being filled

with hope.

That is where I want to be.

The Defeat of Grey

Maine and More 193

It is the grey that makes us depressed

a lack of color, sun not alive yet to burn it off,

causing us to be put on hold, neither here nor there.

But there is also a grey deeper down,

that creeps into our soul, taking no prisoners

so we need to pull it out with a hook

using maybe a flower, a hug, or a smile of love.

The grey will always be defeated, the sun is there

and getting stronger, all the time.

Don’t hold back the sun,

let the grey turn to blue.

Mission Possible

If you’ve ever seen the movies called Mission Impossible, (or the old TV show), the good guys always win. So in a way they could be called Mission Possible. Every mission the agents get involved with, seems absolutely impossible in the beginning, and yet somehow the challenges are overcome and there is victory. That’s why I gave the post this name.

Also wanted to share some music because it is Sunday, and I’m in a relaxed mood. Here we have Lindsey with the Piano Guys, or at least two of them. There is also some humor here.

Have a great week everyone! Keep dancing, keep playing the music, and shining your light. Victory is right around the corner.

Peace!

What Women Need to Remember

Oceans 956

Be a good listener. Listening does not always mean solving or fixing the problem. If you disagree, keep listening anyway, especially if he feels strongly about the situation.

He will welcome hugs and gentle kisses anytime.

Surprise gifts, just because you love them, will go a long way!

Spending time together doing the everyday things, will help reduce stress in everyone. (I’m adding here except for maybe laundry!)

Actions do speak louder than words. Remember to show him your love.

In the Country

Oceans 976

When you and I are in the country we can take back our time

our sanity, by ignoring the negative and basking in the sun,

the park, the bench by the lake whispering, waiting for the center

of our souls to be pieced back together again, silent warfare

in the wholeness, the calm.

Do you remember picking apples when the children were little?

filling our buckets, sometimes fresh peaches or berries,

always smiling at the Creator with a sense of wonder, the children

running and playing, pumpkins in the fall.

The sky was not on fire back then, and the world seldom wept,

war was far away, we were filled

with freedom, expecting only the good.

And now – I cannot look without weeping,

take me back to the country,

where we can take back our time, our sanity.

At least we can whisper, on the park bench, by the lake.

In Between

Maine and More 132

Autumn sun shining in a gentle way

let’s me know that there is a season

of twilight,

the in between of heat and cold, a place of quiet

our souls stretching, taking a moment seeing,

comprehending the waves

relaxing our minds,

understanding the rhythm, and the moon descending,

a time to gather in, and to rest, never ceasing

to be hopeful, comforting

yet very much in between.

Hawks Singing

Oceans 2031

Hawks don’t sing in the valley, they stay up high

then letting loose, they sing of wings. Some people sing

down low, saying it gives them strength, marching,

but many of us can’t find the stream of faith

we climb instead, scraping, clawing our way up

bleeding and bruised, wondering why

holding on to the mountain, looking for our spirit

and where it should live. Hopefully we continue,

until we are hawks singing, way up high, resting

in the knowledge of who we are, and that we do have,

wings.

Quotes for Warriors

Ships 172

“Courage isn’t having the strength to go on – it is going on when you don’t have the strength.”

Napoleon

“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”

Winston Churchill

“Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened.”

Billy Graham

We all face battles, so in that sense we are all warriors. If you have not faced a battle recently you are very fortunate indeed. I love these quotes above, not only because they encourage us to keep going, (and they do) but because they can help us to understand more of how to fight.

So when you face a tough time in the future, or if you’re going through one now, remember these three principles listed above. And keep fighting!

The Wind and the Friar – Conclusion

Mountains and Rivers 017

On the way back down the hill, Friar Thomas vowed he would never have hatred in his heart again. He knew much of it had been due to fear. He and his mother had been poor, and suffered terribly. He suspected (though his mother had never said) that she always had men by her side, in order to help pay the bills. So in a way, hating the poor was due to hating what he himself had gone through.

Later that same day he saw the old man Sam Jenkins, begging for loose change, near the Post Office. All Friar Thomas had at the time, was a bologna sandwich in his pocket, but he made the effort to talk to Sam. He asked Sam how his leg was (Sam had just had an amputation a month ago). To be honest Sam was surprised that the Friar had even spoken to him. Sam said, “Somethin is different about you Friar!” Friar Thomas just smiled, and pulled out the sandwich.

Friar Thomas started the Abbey on a new program, to help those that were hungry. Every day the Friar went through the village feeding people, and many of them were war veterans. Soon the Director of the Abbey got behind the project, and a fund raising campaign was started. They opened a center, complete with a kitchen, next to the hardware store, where anyone could get a good meal.

Before they knew it men were beginning to sleep there. The place became so popular, funds started pouring in, and they opened another center just for women. Many were widows, and victims of domestic violence. Women from the community worked hard at making the place clean, and safe. And with strict instructions from Friar Thomas, they refused to judge the people that came there.

Friar Thomas did not say anything to anyone, about the voice in the wind. He didn’t need to.

It was the community that decided the names for the centers. For the men it became the “House of Hope”, and the center for women became known as the “House of Safety”.

The Wind and the Friar

Deep Woods 108

It was just after World War II, in the foothills of Yorkshire, that there was a Friar by the name of Thomas. On this morning, Friar Thomas went into the hills above the Abbey like he normally did, to pray. It was a cold, blustery, fall day, so he did have his winter coat on, but there was something else in the air too. It was unusual……almost like electricity.

He sat on the wooden bench, like he normally did, but the wind only increased so he decided to make his prayers short, and hoped he would be forgiven. Was that singing he heard? It was distant……but it was there for sure.

Suddenly a small whirlwind began in front of him, which became larger, and then larger still, as the wind intensified, into almost a roar. His heart beat wildly, and he was about to run back down the hill, when he heard a voice calling his name, “Friar Thomas………Friar Thomas……..” It was the voice of a woman, a confident woman, was that a face he was seeing? “I’m here”, he said.

The strangest thing was, that the wind was still roaring, but he could not here it now, he could only hear the voice of the woman. Was it the Virgin? He could not tell. She spoke again, “Friar Thomas….. why do you hate the poor?” He stumbled over his words, “I don’t….. hate anyone, I’m a Friar!” But the voice in the wind said once again, “Friar Thomas……why do you hate the poor?” He hesitated, “Well…..I try……it’s true I’m not as compassionate as I should be……” The voice in the wind said for the third time now, “Friar Thomas…….why do you hate the poor?”

He was undone. It was true, he despised people that had nothing. He closed his eyes now, realizing he had been carrying a horrible pride and hatred around for years. He sank to his knees, and wept for the first time in a long time. He opened his eyes, was about to say something…. but the whirlwind was gone.

To be continued.
