In the Country

Oceans 976

When you and I are in the country we can take back our time

our sanity, by ignoring the negative and basking in the sun,

the park, the bench by the lake whispering, waiting for the center

of our souls to be pieced back together again, silent warfare

in the wholeness, the calm.

Do you remember picking apples when the children were little?

filling our buckets, sometimes fresh peaches or berries,

always smiling at the Creator with a sense of wonder, the children

running and playing, pumpkins in the fall.

The sky was not on fire back then, and the world seldom wept,

war was far away, we were filled

with freedom, expecting only the good.

And now – I cannot look without weeping,

take me back to the country,

where we can take back our time, our sanity.

At least we can whisper, on the park bench, by the lake.

  1. Bending in the country, is being with God, that is, if one is really there wholeheartedly, and not elsewhere in thier mind either.
