Melting

Winter Snow 023

When we forget the Ice Age, the woolly mammoths

of our primitive rage, dropping our spears, the world will begin to breathe

once again, and nations will be repaired. Each of us needs a melting,

to remove our ice, to see each other as human, a oneness

embracing our colors with open arms, seeing

our faiths as hearts longing, instead of masks hiding

and that culture can change with the birth

of a new spring, a new hope

of defeating the ice,

because we are all

humans.

Amen.

Dreams

Winter Snow II 006

Are dreams merely watercolors lingering in the back

of our minds? Or are they more of a vision from heaven

waiting to be born, waiting for us to stand up and fight,

for what we believe? Some say you can have, or be whatever

you want, but telling that to the poor would be cruel.

The sick know better, that dreams get us through the fire

they speak to our hearts that we can live

like an acrylic painting lasting, standing out

with bright colors and always knowing

who we are, more real than water.

Living and breathing

the beauty.

Dreams.

A Handful of Pebbles

Old Photos 101

Where do you go to dig your well? Exploring, trekking

into the wilderness, searching the largest rocks for a word,

is it Rumi? A source to grab a hold of, a sun-burned prophet,

or an ancient sage? We can dig wells with shovels of wisdom

but My Love has taught me at the seashore, that waves do speak,

that the universe can be found in a seashell,

and that we have all the colors

we need, in a handful

of pebbles.

Ghost Writers

Winter Trees 004

When we write from the shell, the tent we live in

the clouds cease to hold their water, leaking cisterns

seldom inspire. But when we have been to the mountains

or riding the clouds on golden chariots, it is then

we can repair the scars, and walk on the heads

of snakes sneaking. Only when we are filled

can we offer a cup

of water

or give colors

to blot out

the grey.

Friday Night Culture – Drums

Sheila E - Concert Shots

Ready to have some fun? Well it is Friday night after all! I decided to take a one night break from my normal writing and stretch out a little.

So here are three different short performances of drums. Sheila E. has to be the best percussionist around today. She is amazing.

Keith Moon is from the rock band the Who, and unfortunately is no longer around, may he rest in peace. He is one of the best drummers in history. If you watch any of the old footage of him, he really seems to be soaring on another plane.

Jen Ledger from the band Skillet is one of the best drummers around. Yes I purposely picked two women, because woman seldom get the credit they deserve when it comes to modern music. The video with Jen is very loud so be careful! Each video is uniquely different but I think the one with Sheila E. is the best. I love these!

More writing on the way tomorrow! Have a great weekend!

Shadows on the Snow

Winter Snow 011

Seeing shadows on the snow tells me there is a sun

that there is no reason to fear the grey, and sometimes

a shadow can help us to understand, comprehend

the depth of the white. Even those living

in the darkest night can find a tree to explore

studying the shapes, the lighting until

they are encouraged.

Snow.

Don’t Let Go

Maine and More 276

Don’t let go of that love you use to carry so well

I know, that disease really drained you, took

you to hell and back again, and what they said

about you was horrible, they had no right

and that car accident, I’m not sure how

you survived. But don’t let it bury you

or cause you to hide, trying to be safe.

I know you’re strong but that’s not the point,

allow yourself to feel again, carry your love

that deep love as big as the ocean,

extending far above the sky,

don’t let go of your love for others,

for yourself, carry

your love for life

don’t let go.

Be you,

and live again.

I know you’re in there.

Note: This is not about one person. It’s about all of us.

The Rhythm

Maine and More 182

The sea never really did learn to listen

beckoning us instead to quiet ourselves

to listen to the rhythm, and the wildness

that cannot be tamed. It was

the endless, the far corners pushed

to the limits, teaching us there is an adventure

that we can be free on the waves,

with our spirits wandering

trusting, in not only what we know

but taking it in and listening

to the rhythym

of the sea.

A heartbeat.

Organic Farming

Vacation 990

They’ve always known a little bit more

than we do, that food does not come from chemicals

that food comes from soil, and rain

with sun. They’ve known we need to be

connected to the earth so we can survive,

that we need each other, each one

having value,

a solid and dependable

philosophy,

producing life.

As the Sun Rises

Home 2014 239

As the sun rises I will be ready

huddled in layers armed with a camera

waiting for, expecting the glistening, the sparkling

as glimpses of shadows hover, then dissipate

the brilliance of the snow, never doubting

we would live to see another day.

It is magnificent.
