When the Sky Freezes

Winter Trees II 022

When one does not appreciate the other

for who they are

the rainbow begins to fade,

the lace becomes old, lifeless.

Add the ingredients of random trauma

and the two backup to where it is safe

seeking a wall of rocks,

not looking into each other’s eyes,

because it’s too painful.

Fortunately it only takes one

moving back towards the center

to realize the sky was frozen

to allow love regardless of the storm

flowing in spite of it all

moving the heart of the other

to live again,

to realize the value

of a hug.

Then the rainbow

can live again,

and the lace

is made new.

  1. Simply – I loved it.. You have created beautiful imagery by using beautiful words. What prompted me to comment was that yesterday I wrote a poetic story about love and hope, so I just remembered that yes love gives hope and which gives us a reason to believe and a reason to live as well. I’m glad to be a part of your blogging network. 🙂

  2. Wonderfully vivid poetry, about the emotional stalemate that, unfortunately, too many relationships devolve into. I love the image of one of the partners brave enough to step towards the center, and unfreeze the sky.
