Pilgrimage

Winter Trees 002

Even in a pilgrimage to the deepest forest

we can feel more like dead wood, instead of the living

having scars that itch for healing, our mind reeling

weak legs, fading heart. There are no easy answers

but a voice from deep within, perhaps on the wind

says to go deeper, roots digging down, but always

branches even broken that reach. Bark

as a cover, saying “You are safe.”

And that is when the pilgrimage

begins.

  1. love the message, Go deeper… And the photograph is perfect. superb. it also invites us to go further, in deeper, through those interwoven layers of wood and branches.
