The Last Buoy

Maine and More 122

It was the last buoy that gave him hope

meant they would soon be out to sea

where he could put behind him

the heartbreak of the earth,

the crushing sense

that nothing would change.

His spirit wanted the freedom,

wanted to witness the miracle

with his own eyes

of each new sun,

the birth

and the truth

that there was hope,

but only in a world

where humans

are visitors,

and dolphins

rule the kingdom.

It was the perfect place

for writing.
