His Song Returned

100_1296

He wasn’t exactly sure when his song returned

but it was there now, for sure

filling his chest, his mind

with a sense of wonder

dancing.

Somehow sunlight

flowed again

as if

he had been

reborn.

He knew sitting on rocks

next to the waterfall,

breathing the mist

was part of it,

but there was more,

a sense of joy –

of being loved

her smile

always filled

him.

Peace of oneness,

and his song

was alive

Again.

She’s the One

100_1027

A fighter from an early age,

gleaming sword

yet the power of flowers,

and hands

that know the work,

of love.

Beauty and power

in one,

giving away

and yet taking in.

She’s the one

for me.

The Forest of the Abandoned

100_1060

Deep in the forest of the abandoned there is a small light,

very small, a signal really, that it’s time for snow melting

transforming  into a stream, and then a river, molding

itself into a surge, growing in strength into a relentless rescue.

Covering, cleansing the ones left for dead, washing them,

until even their screams are erased, and

they can believe in their circulation

once again.

Legendary

100_0897

True legends are seldom born with a crown

more than likely they were humble

wearing humility with honor

but saying yes, to the people,

to the cause. Their strength internal

perhaps – a spark of the divine.

But if we were to speak

with them we would be amazed

how they look,

how they speak

just like us.

Blessings

100_1047

May the winds of change not shake your core

not blow out your light, your hope,

may your enemies be few

or none at all, and if so

may they walk away

with their heads hanging low

repenting.

May you have the confidence

of a giant

and the humility

of a bridesmaid.

May forgiveness always

be your shield.

Blessings.

Peace

100_1408

So why do I always wish you peace? Am I stuck in some type of a time warp from the 1960’s, dreaming of the anti-war movement? Am I some type of monk having just walked out of a monastery? Well the answer to both of these questions is no, but there are reasons I use the term frequently.

Those that have been following for a while know I have mentioned this before, but a lot of my readers are new, so I thought I would share about it again.

We know that peace means the cessation of conflict, or a lack of war. But besides the outward need for our world to have peace, we each need to have peace personally. The Merriam-Webster dictionary says that word peace, can also mean: “a state of tranquility or quiet”, in other words internally.

I love the concept of Shalom which is a Hebrew word, meaning an overall sense of well being and wholeness. My understanding of the Arabic word Salaam is, peace be upon you. Both of these are very good. I am also used to churches where we greet each other (and visitors) with a handshake, maybe a hug, and “peace be to you”. I love that kind of language.

So when I share the term peace with you, I am saying that I want nothing but good things to take place in your life, regardless of your faith, or if you have no faith. I hope that you will not experience war, that you will have a sense of wholeness, and well being. I include good health with this. And finally that peace would indeed be with you, wherever you go.

Have a great week everyone, and I wish you peace!

Caring About Others

100_5420

From the book, The Way of Serenity:

“When we are suffering, it’s very hard to see beyond our pain to the world around us. It is precisely this “getting beyond ourselves,” however, that offers us the opportunity to begin to heal the wounds in our own soul. When we remain aware that everyone around us has some pain to undergo………..we grow in our communion with them, and our own sorrow becomes a vehicle for understanding theirs. This is the sense of the beautiful virtue of compassion, a word that comes from the Latin words for “suffering with” someone else. To feel compassion is to appropriate to ourselves the sorrow of others, to enter into their world and participate in it.”

I love this book. Have a great day everyone!
