On Their Wedding Day

She safely fell into his arms finding herself,

surprised at how strong he really was

she courageously pushed back

her lace. Taking a chance

on his shield.

He was stunned, all he really wanted

was her face, to forever remember,

so he kissed her gingerly on her cheeks

so that there would be no more veils

covering her scars anymore.

He would protect her now

with his very life.

She loved his back, but more

she trusted

his gentleness.

The next day he had a hangover, but they drove to Canada anyway, for their honeymoon.

    1. Thank you Belinda! No I meant his physical back, which here is a symbol for strength, and carrying weight. Yes gentle strength is what I hope to be like someday! Peace.
