The Day of Rest

100_1295

And when the Creator saw everything that He had made, He saw that it was good. In fact, He saw that it was very good indeed. And this included the people created.

And the Creator rested from all His labors. This is how the Sabbath was made, a day to bring us freedom from working too much.

May you be rested and refreshed, whichever day you choose to be free from work.

I wish you peace.

A Good Conversation

100_1323

In the mountains we are all equally free

allowing our chains to fall away,

as we conquer

the boulders.

Near the top, talking to our own selves

we discover the truths

about who we are

seeing further

into

our souls.

A good conversation.

In the Early Morning

20160628_203527

In the early morning when it rains,

our spirits stir, our bodies shift,

rolling over in our beds

pulling up the blankets

to our chins,

dreaming

of holding each other

in the quiet.

The Sun in Our Veins

100_1488

Our destiny was never about living in the shadows

being covered, confused by the grey, we were meant to live

in the mountains following the light always –

moving forward and forgetting

the pain, going higher still,

with the sun in our veins

ruining the darkness

completely.

And then we can inspire others.

Peace in the Forest

20160514_120002

When we are lonely or hurt the forest doesn’t feel the same

we may not notice the sun streaks or the deer

watching us, nibbling leaves.

We might instead prefer the dark, the quiet of tree shadows.

fortunately, the power of the forest remains,

covering us like a warm summer rain,

overpowering our fears,

as the Creator

embraces

us.

New Adventures

100_1679

I’m having a great time writing! I really enjoy this site and I’m so proud of the journey I’ve been taking. Thank you for being a wonderful part of it!

And yet the participation here has been waning, for a variety of reasons, including the summer lull. So I feel a need to stretch my wings, to get involved, and to discover new venues.

Many bloggers have gone to social media, and some have closed down their wordpress sites entirely. So this old guy is going to learn what he can (not knowing a thing) and hang out with people in a new way.

And believe it or not, I’m actually going to start up more blogs! The first new one will be a fiction only site. I love writing fiction but it takes a lot of time, so I will only post there once or twice a week.

After that there will be a music blog! Wahoo!

I will keep you posted. I’ll still be here on Ancient Skies, but maybe a little less.

Peace!

(The guitars are very loud here so please be careful)

Basking in the Sun

100_1630

As the two of them searched the horizon for whales

leaning over the rail, he looked at her profile.

She was always so regal and yet

tender.

He took some pictures of her,

when she thought again

of his shredded heart.

Yet he was a knight

teaching her strength

in spite of the bleeding.

They turned again to the sea

expecting

the joy to continue,

and saw the horizon did indeed,

go on forever.

She pointed her face upward

and basked

in the New England sun,

as they found

each other’s hands,

in the light.

Of Wind and Confidence

100_1123

As ropes pulled on old wood

creaking,

giving way to canvas flaps

the wind folded, and filled

the sails.

The ship leaned

to the port side.

And she held his hand, and the railing with the other,

she thought there was such strength

in his heart, as her straw hat blew off, and fell

into the water, he didn’t miss a beat

covering her

with his baseball cap.

Smiling, he leaned over and kissed her lips

whispering “My reward?”.

as the ship sliced the waves,

they surrendered.

As he looked forward, she said,

“Go ahead sweetheart….I love to watch you in the wind…”

So as the man of her dreams stood in the bow

with his arms extended,

conquering worlds with his spirit free,

a smile appeared, covering her face.

She understood

what trusting was now,

and she was no longer afraid,

to live.

A Word for Wednesday

20160509_124143

The word for today is “empathy”. Empathy has been described as understanding another person’s experiences or emotions.

When we empathize with someone – there is no room for judgment, because we are either understanding where they are coming from, or we are in the process of understanding. In this sense, we are validating them and what they are going through.

So empathy has a wonderful sense of compassion built in, that says I will care or I do care! In fact, empathy makes us human, and connects us wonderfully with other human beings.

And being infused with empathy will do wonders for our art and creativity, when we allow it to flow.

Peace, and have a great time creating!

Dragon in the Sky

20160716_203915

My Love as we watch the sunset tonight, I see the power of a dragon

and yet we do not fight in the physical, we do not breathe

courage. Take my hand and we will be stronger

the horizon is both deadly and beautiful,

but in trusting – and in unity

we will win.
