You gave me eyes My Love, to see that the horizon really does go on forever,
and to see the strength of a flower,
that the small things should be embraced,
and the ultimate victory
of love.

As the summer recedes and slowly pulls away from the beach,
at least the flowers are persistent, still pulling life
from barren sand.
This always amazes me.
All I want from this summer My Love,
are our memories. Of you and I in our beach chairs,
and playing in the waves.

If there is a calling for us humans, it is simply
to take care of one another
not a doctrine, nor a candle
just a place –
in the heart.
A refreshing compassion
is a bubbling brook
in a dry land.

We were married with such fine China and silver, My Love
and over the years battles raged outside, nearly
costing us our souls, and yet here we are
still carving, still etching the stone
tablets of our history.
Respecting the words we said so many years ago,
and the elegance of our love,
covered in lace.

In the river there is life
in spite of the rocks, in spite of
the course it takes,
there is life
in the letting go.
And in the forgiveness.

When is just a hint of autumn in the air, a cool morning, I think of us
planning our wedding, so many years ago. Talking
with Rev. Ann, and your aunt getting her house ready,
for that wonderful day and the reception.
I was surprised we paid off the ring so quickly, and I was in love with the way it looked
on your beautiful finger. I always think of us when
there is the hint of autumn
in the air.

As seagulls peer into the waves, expecting the night to fall,
an older couple refuse to give up their walk
in spite of the chill, and the sun setting
still holding hands, having been
through enough hell
to never let go
of love, or
of each other.

As the bus driver watched the old couple, help each other off the bus, one with a cane, and the other with a walker, she did offer to help. But the two knew each other so well, they knew when to hold on, and when to step down.
The bus driver hesitated, as she watched them walk away slowly. And as she closed the door and took her foot off the brake, she saw the husband lean over and pick a wildflower off of a bush, and give it to his wife. It was a little blue flower. She wondered how long the old couple had been married, as she smiled from ear to ear.
The bus driver was changed that day, and decided that love was worth it after all. She would try love again……someday.

When I take the time to search the mountains,
I can find peace living. If you are with me My Love, and I simply turn
to see your face, I know there is love reigning.
And all doubt runs away quickly,
as I see
the Creator working.

“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”
Mahatma Gandhi
We must hold onto the light of hope and encourage each other.
And embrace the wonders of our ocean.
