The Strength of Poetry

As prophets wash us with their words, our poets look inside of us

writing words for our wounds, lifting their heads to the heavens

restoring our sense of who we are, with hope

aiming straight for our hearts and minds,

to build us where we have fallen.

A compliment really to words,

and the strength

of poetry.

    1. Thank you so much for your beautiful comments! I am sorry for your loss, but as you say beautiful words can bring such healing. Peace to you and rich blessings! And welcome to my blog.

  1. Cutting insight my friend. Have words lost their power in this day of television and YouTube? I think so! What the hell ever happened to reading and thinking? To socializing with friends, neighbors, brothers, sisters, grandparents? Screw email! Do these things tell “who we are, with hope, aiming at hearts and minds” now? Absurd! “To build us where we have fallen” indeed…for our hearts and minds are tethered-by culture, by relationships, by lack of personal growth which reading the right words would inspire. Well done.

(My apologies about the link everybody-can’t post anything on this site because I’m separately hosted…)
