It was time, and he knew it was time, so he couldn’t help himself as he took off his hat,
saying “Shalom!” as he walked in the door of the Jewish deli. A big smile met him
from the man behind the counter, and many men did look
like Rabbis, the women wearing long dresses.
And all he did really was buy a sandwich
and a soda, sitting a table.
He tried smiling.
It was time, and he knew it was time, and he absolutely loved
finding our humanity, everywhere he went.
