Why Love Poetry?

100_1055

I love poetry because even a devastated spirit can be given wings again,

sometimes a dove flying through the peaceful forest, with the gentle

azure of a stream overflowing, bubbling serenely

over divinely placed rocks.

And then there are times poetry gives us the wings of eagles

and hawks, with a 10 ft. wingspan, talons extended

screaming, in the bird of prey language,

ready to tear off the head of

every demon of despair.

Yes, I love poetry,

isn’t it amazing?

  1. I love poetry and I love those who recognize the impact if poetry, be it soft and beautiful or deep and raw. So many do not understand poetry and its gift . Thank you Nico.

    1. Holly thank you so much. I love your comments here! I’m very blessed. One of the reasons I write so much is it want to give what little have to make the world a better place. There are so many poets that write way better than I do and photographers that create such beautiful creations. I figure we each can give what we have been given. Peace and rich blessings to you.

  2. I love this!! It’s amazing how many interpretations poetry can have as well as genres. I don’t know about you, but I read those two verses completely differently, one was beautiful and soft and the other was majestic and powerful.
