When Wounded Hearts Seek Refuge

20160514_122212

Even with visions of wooden flutes playing softly, and Native Americans resting in their lodges,

the forest becomes truly sacred, when wounded hearts seek refuge, and healing

from the hatred in our world – needing the calm, the covering

presence of the One who made us all.

When Seagulls Speak to the Waves

100_1726

When seagulls speak to the waves they ask for food,

hopeful and diving, leading us to ponder the horizon,

wondering if we will ever comprehend,

or gain understanding

of eternity.

I Am Stunned by Her Magnificence

20161020_163250Some Native American, but mostly African-American – the blood

of queens runs through her veins. Such an honor really

to kiss her cheek, her hands, her forehead,

I am stunned by her magnificence

as she brings a sense of wonder

to my life each and every day,

I will love her

forever.

Laughing at the Hawk

100_5717

A hawk shifts slightly on one of the highest branches, as he listens

to a mouse below burrowing, through last year’s leaves.

A chipmunk jumps here and there, bolder today

due to the density of the fog,

laughing at the hawk, because

all of the creatures know

there will be no hunting

in the forest, today.

The Oceans Remember Our Prayers

100_1641

When the brightness of the sun fails to lift our spirits, the oceans remember our prayers

and our hope will drift on the waves, as if a message was sent

and the bottle containing our letter is found,

finally opened by the Commander

of angels, and suddenly

the clouds open

and the gloom

is destroyed.

A Prayer for the Sick

20160602_161232

Almighty and Everlasting One, Creator of the Universe, we ask that You would intervene, and bring healing to the sick. We know that You made these bodies, and that You know everything about us, so we ask for healing and restoration, and strength, for all those we know, even those dealing with serious illness.

Strengthen us, and encourage us, and bring good health to us again, we ask.

Amen.
