My Opinions

I learned a long time ago that my opinions don’t matter, and that’s not what this blog is about anyway. This is a creative writing blog, and I focus now on poetry. However, since our country is in such a political mess, I feel a responsibility to share a little on where I am politically.

I am no longer a member of the Republican Party. Believe it or not though, it has nothing to do with Donald Trump. It started when President Obama first started running for office. I didn’t like what I saw coming from the right. I didn’t like what their views were, and I never liked the way they attacked President Obama.

I liked President Obama then, and even more so now. I like what he says, and the way he says it. He carries a certain professionalism, and statesmanship that I think is unique.

But I digress, my views changed over time from being really, super conservative, to what I would call progressive. Do I like everything the Democrats say? No, of course not.

And what about now? I’m glad that some Republicans are now standing up to the President. I don’t trust him, and never have. I could rant and rave about the many things he has done and said, but I won’t. He is wrong though, on many different levels.

Those are my opinions, and like I said, I am a Progressive now.

Please be kind with your comments. And now back to poetry.

  1. It is up to each person to find out, where they stand political. Next step to publish their opinion. There will always be souls, who have troubles being polite, but we don’t need to listen to them at all, our decision 🙂

  2. Your opinion is part of you and makes your personality so unique… and I like your opinion here a lot. Not that you are against the Republicans but why you changed your opinion!

  3. admiration and respect for your outspoken sincerity, Sir… Prez Obama has been one of THE greatest POTUS, and there’s NO possible comparison between him and the current one… I used to have Republican friends until W-Bush showed up, but after all the lies and manipulations about the wmd, followed by the ILLEGAL invasion and occupation of Iraq, they all quit the party, I’m sure you understand WHY… we all miss “America the Beautiful”!!! ❤

I lived in Houston(NASA area), TX for 5 years, where we have "blood" relatives and dear friends… and we grief for the "nightmare" they've been experiencing for days… 😦

    1. Yes some prayer for Houston is needed! Along with cash, and a whole lot of other help! It may take years for them to recover. I didn’t mind George Bush as much as Donald Trump, but I was more conservative then. Peace to you my friend, and merci!

  4. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and you shared yours in a good way. You didn’t lash out at the President even though there are so many reasons to! Peace to you!

  5. Nico, your opinion matters very much. Each of our opinions, that of – ‘we the people,’ – expressed… without aggression and violence, are of utmost importance! Irene is wise, some always will ‘have trouble being polite.’
Your photo, The Flag, stands for something valuable in the USA ( but also, as a talisman to all oppressed) freedom and justice; peace, and good governance. taxation with representation A Voice from the majority.
I’m thanking you, Nico, for writing your post today. I needed it. WE, the people, need it. …. in Peace.

    1. Debi thank you for your amazing, incredibly encouraging, and yes humbling comments. I seldom receive comments like this and I’m very grateful. I had been thinking about this for awhile and really needed to write it. But there is too much anger in this world so my goal was to be accurate without anger. Thank you again my friend. Peace and wonderful blessings to you.

      1. I understand. my website was Meant, to be just art. but… voices for good, must be given air. I know, for some… anger is the easier one to express and so they just do. WE. Will keep on, in peace and believing that better governance will happen. and Nico, it is my pleasure to comment! 🙂 cheers, debi
