Our prayers will be a little softer now, our spirits
letting go of the heat of summer
we turn instead, breathing the incense
of leaves, and the earth discovering
her own passion.

I was descending when the wind filled my wings,
eyes closed, sensing my spirit
going further than I had ever known
prayer shifting, balance
returning, but I knew the river
was never ending,
it was then my eyes filled
with tears.
I let go
of my talons.

I love the wind whipping, rippling the over the water
as I walk in the early autumn, searching the mountains,
the sky covering us, with clouds rolling over,
I sigh and pray, knowing the peace
even more now, and
being filled beyond
any language,
with the wind whipping, rippling
over the water.

When poems become our prayers, there’s no need to fear the darkness
or the fury of the divine, no tyrants club
will stifle our spirits, as we build
bridges to the other side.
We know light
is expanded.

We are so divided, what do we tell our children, our grandchildren, when they are old enough? I think I will tell them this:
I would rather sit at an outdoor café, sipping some wine, or a bottle of water, talking and disagreeing I’m sure, maybe even arguing quietly, with a group of leftists.
We could break bread together, while slicing some cheese, or snacking on some peanuts and granola in a bowl.
I would rather have these discussions at the café, sipping and snacking, than to hear the horrific sounds of black boots marching with shouts of hate, looking for a war behind every tree. Yes, I really would.
At least that’s my opinion.

As the leaves finally surrender to the cooler air,
our hearts are lifted, our spirits soar
beholding their glory
reaching into the blue
we are infused
with their colors
so glorious.

Our light filled prayers have never been a burden,
never an amulet speaking
or religious proclamation,
more of a poem really, lifting
our heart cries, simply words
from our essence ascending,
being held so gently
floating, dancing
in the clouds.

Autumns are made for us to consider the softer
sunlight caressing the leaves, along
with the cooler air, pulling
our spirits
into the colors.

Well I am just about the happiest man on the face of the earth! My wife and I are celebrating more than 30 years of our marriage! Yes!! Now we don’t give exact dates over the internet, but we are so excited I have to share this!
My wife is the one I write about, the one I dream about. Life can be horrible when terrible things happen (like cancer), but what matters now is the love we share, and the healing we give to each other!
I could not be happier, and we don’t often hear that from men, so I want to boldly declare that today.
And for our celebration, we went to Washington D.C. Our nation’s capital really is a beautiful city. I highly recommend a visit there. You will find some of the best museums in the world, including the Smithsonian, which is actually many museums.
The Smithsonian has the National Gallery of Art, the African-American Museum (brand new), the Native American Museum, the National Zoo, the Natural History Museum, and many others.
And the city is ethnically diverse. You will find some of the best ethnic restaurants in the world! My wife and I ate at an Indian restaurant which was wonderful.
I also recommend a dinner or brunch cruise on the Potomac River. There are very large cruise boats that feed you a wonderful feast, as you slowly cruise by some of the monuments of this beautiful city.
To My Love – Happy Anniversary!
P.S. The photographs here are from our trip. I will share more in a future post.

As quiet streams gently meander through our spirits,
a new light begins, to fill our eyes
teaching our hearts
the healing and beauty
of our deliverance
and to trust that we really can
be lifted, souls
running as free as the wind.
