I Do Remember What Light Was

100_1284

As light flickers, breaking through the tops of trees,

beginning to dance on the forest stream

where moss still grows, clinging

to the rocks,

I realize I do remember

what light was

and that I can let it touch my eyes,

wash my face,

and fill my spirit

even when the stream

runs dark.
