The 4th of July

20170503_164943 (1)

We are a nation of immigrants founded by immigrants

and we signed the papers on the 4th of July

didn’t we? And now may we repent,

as a nation, of our prejudice

of our hatred

for “the other”

as the blood speaks

and children cry

may we turn away from our sins

as we celebrate freedom

may we embrace

the color of our brother

our sister

the diversity,

their precious gifts

we have always

been given.

    1. Yes!!! I love my country but not our policies towards others any not the prejudice so many carry around here now. And I love this quote by Lincoln. Thank you Holly, peace and great blessings to you and yours.

  1. Beautifully put written from the heart and soul!

PS I accidentally deleted your comment on my blog. I don’t know how that happened I must have pressed something by mistake. But thank you for your kind words, Nico!

    1. Thank you Connie! No problem, you may have hit “trash” instead of like – I have done that before. If so you can go into the comments section of your dashboard and restore. Either way it’s ok. I thought your post was wonderful. Peace to you and your family.

  2. Such thoughts are so needed in order to make Independence Day what it should be: a day to celebrate everybody’s freedom, the freedom to be and to be respected and appreciated for who they are!

  3. Beautifully penned, Nico. This prejudice and hatred must end! So many are being hurt and whether we know it or not, so are we. Bless you for the Truth you write! 🦋

    1. Yes, that’s it exactly! Thank you Amy, it’s true we are also hurting ourselves. In addition to prayer we need to do what we can. Peace to you and your family.

    1. Thank you Anna! Your comment is a blessing. In a way this was difficult to write yet it weighed heavy on my heart. Peace to you and rich blessings my friend.
