It Snowed Again Today

It snowed again today, winter surrounding the autumn flame. He put on his hat and coat, remembering his younger days running, falling down, sledding down Tucker’s Hill.

He just stood there, feeling the silence falling, even though he was older now, he suddenly had an idea, involving a trashcan lid and the thrill of sliding down – Grandma’s Mountain.

As the Snow Fell Quietly

20180204_121757

There was a presence in the trees, as the snow fell quietly

it nearly took his breath away, this presence counted his scars,

and then there were none

as if he looked back

as a survivor

that could see the air now

a presence that held him

still, he remembered it suddenly

as if it were light.

Yes,

it was called

peace.

So Many Heroes

20170503_164943

When I think of veterans I think of so many heroes in our world today.

I think of both men and women of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. Along with the Coast Guard, and National Guard.

But I also think of others that save our lives, protect our lives every day,

the firefighters, police officers, paramedics,

emergency room doctors and nurses.

So many heroes in our world today,

protecting you and I.

Thank you to each one!

In the Softness of the Autumn Sun

deep-woods-101

In the softness of the autumn sun, a quiet returns

to our hearts

an in between, a season

of twilight, of dreaming

where we remember gathering, holding onto,

yet a time of resting

to cease from striving,

even blankets wrapping us

in a feeling of safety, letting go

trusting the arms,

trusting the smile

of our lover

and the smell of apples

bringing wholeness

in the twilight.

We drift off again.

Autumn.
