I Often Think of Hawks

When I walk this trail, as so many generations did before,

through the shadows of the pines,

over the large rocks and small,

I often think of hawks,

and shadows of wings

covering the earth

and of a people

who roamed free.

  1. this brought such a huge smile to my face………i often think the exact same thing…….walking through the woods i think about those who walked this before me and, there are moments, i swear i can hear them too. this piece speaks to my soul on such a deep level. bless you!

      1. Thank you, Nico. I had a good when even very busy one. We went to Vienna for my niece’s confirmation. Two days of driving and one day of celebration… haha.

  2. This is something I think of when I visit places untouched by the modern world! I imagine the generations that were there before me and how or what it must’ve felt for them! Such a beautiful poem, I loved it!
