Sweet Summer Memories

In those waves where light seems to glitter,

ride memories

of a boy on a raft,

of body surfing, and wipe outs

and dreaming

of being old enough

to drive,

a Chevy of course

old enough to take Marianne

on a date……

would she want to dance?

Suddenly a seagull woke the old man….

squawking again

for a piece of bread.

He reached into the bag

and threw some crumbs in the air…..

longing for more

of his sweet summer memories.

  1. Thoughts of a man who must have had a richly filled life. Wonderful thoughts that make me dream too. I know such moments well. Wonderfully written, Nico!

    1. Thank you for your wonderful comments! Yes I dream and write by the ocean sometimes. One of my favorite places! Peace my friend and great blessings to ya.

  2. This is very good! I can feel the emotions of the man reliving his sweet memories. 🙂
There is something so carefree about summer memories of when we were young.
