393 Million

20170916_122348

There are 393 million guns in the United States, not including military and police weapons.

We have more guns here than we have people. For every man, woman, child, and infant…. there is a gun, and more than that.

There are times that police arrive on the scene of a shooting and they are out gunned by the shooter.

Countries such as Britain don’t have mass shootings because they have few guns. It’s simple math really.

Having more guns makes us less safe.

And yet certain Senators continue to block legislation that would help us to be safer.

If you live in the U.S. please let your Congressional representatives and Senators know you want some common sense gun control.

The time is now.

Peace.

Sunscreen and Spy Novels

20190719_145041

Summer sun and sunscreen, yelling into the air,

“I cannot put this book down…..she escaped again!”

washing the sand off my feet, means

I’ll be back again….

Well I didn’t exactly do a good job of taking a summer break, now did I? There were several reasons, one of which is my wife and I got sick (nothing major).

So our time at the beach was cut short. We have been taking a break though, spending time together.

I’ve read two novels so far, and I’m on my third. I had forgotten how much I loved a good action, sci-fi adventure!

And the book I was yelling about in the poem? The Rook, by Daniel O’Malley, which crosses a number of genres. It’s a sci-fi, paranormal, mystery, spy adventure. I do recommend it.

P.S. I’m still taking it easy. Have a great summer!

Peace.

When We Speak of Peace

20180930_130115When we speak of peace, we not only speak for ourselves but also for the interests of others,

for the idea of peace is filled with wholeness, a sense of healing, a sense of safety and being protected,

a sense of being accepted, of being loved, and even having bread for our physical bodies.

May we all have peace.

Amen.

In the Summer Fog

100_5694

Ghosts shimmer in the shifting shadows

of the summer fog,

lamenting of losing their former glory

seeking to escape……

the absence of flesh or at least

to explain their plight

to a willing writer, walking

in the woods unafraid.

If you stand perfectly still……

they will sense

your heartbeat.
