Winter Shadows

In the shadows of winter, bark becomes prominent

in diffused light

the roughness of cold air,

with vague memories

of life lived in green

we pray for the life of the sun,

to be lifted again.

  1. What’s the name of this tree? Is it the one which sheds its leaves completely in winter?
When I’m reading your poem, I’m enjoying sunshine outside. True, there’s life in sunlight.

    1. Thank you Madeeha! I’m not sure of the name but I think it is a poplar tree. Yes there are a number of trees here that lose all their leaves in winter and grow new ones in spring. Peace and wonderful blessings to you.

      1. I feel it’s a deciduous tree. Where I live there are lot of them. These days they’re all brown but in summer they’re all green.
