As the Waves Roar

100_0890

After the war, with our minds at rest decompressing

from the shadows of fear,

our oceans will find us again

with the poetry we thought we had lost forever

running, thundering

in our ears,

as the waves roar

in the power

of confidence.

In the Poet’s Heart

100_1652

In the poet’s heart we hold the light dancing with colors

filling our phrases shaping,

guiding, directing the surge of words

through us

the intensity into our pens,

confident.

And in our decreasing

we seek a river

or an ocean

dolphins playing in the waves

to fill us

once again.

Finding Each Other

20190507_122047

I learned how to turn and shape my discovery,

my emblazoned star

into a more pliable romance,

so she would notice me,

and we could both walk out of this mess together,

seeking wholeness. We did find

the right shoes though,

used, but in remarkable condition.

And she spun, twirled

in her cotton skirt,

with the sun in her hair

the scent of lavender

defending us,

and that’s how it all began really,

our journey together.

Note: Sometimes we find ourselves by finding each other.

Solitude

20170628_135132

I may not get to the mountain top today,

or walk in the tall grass

but I can surround myself

with the woods, seeking light,

or walk by the lake,

pause on a rock watching

the ducks gently paddle,

as I close my eyes,

breathing deep.

Note: I like many of you, feel a need to have an inner quiet, a time to reassess and pull back.

I know I always work too hard, post too often. And everytime I say I’m taking a break, it doesn’t happen for long. It’s who I am I guess.

One way I have made time though, is by sharing from my archives. So I’ll do that for awhile, and post less often.

My priorities are to take care of my wife, and my own health.

I’ll also be spending even more time outside (yay!), learning more yoga, exercising, and reading.

I love reading paranormal spy thriller novels, and poetry. My favorite poets right now are Rupi Kaur and Courtney Peppernell.

Thank you for reading!
