When Spring Speaks

20170503_163308

Within the brutality of shadows and empty streets

spring speaks, becoming our balm,

encouraging us

lifting us,

and reminding us

of who we truly are,

that we are one of many

beautiful faces,

in the sun.

Up on the Ridge

100_1324

When I went up on the ridge that day I had my raincoat on, the one with the hood,

and checked for my mask in the ziploc. Seeking my rock, my thinking rock, my prayer

and meditation rock, there was comfort when I found it and I sat down silently, even in the rain

I could sense the quiet of the forest. I closed my eyes and quieted my spirit…..realizing I didn’t need to find some new deep revelation,

or write a poem producing lightning on a page, some awe inspiring lines, one poem

out doing another, until the lines faded. That was all nonsense. I could just be who I was,

and write quietly of healing and nature, and peace. Praying on a rock up high, sitting in the rain.

A Day in the Life II

20160606_164850Today’s sandwich is chicken salad and the cheese is some really spicy, jalapeno and cayenne pepper cheese.

This is milder than I thought, but definitely hotter than pepper jack.

We also ventured out today to an organic farm, and picked up some produce. And the other day we were at an organic dairy farm for meat and dairy products.

A ride in the country is always good! I really don’t have the inspiration for a poem today, life is busy.

And that’s something I wanted to mention. I’m still out there working, and not from home. Sometimes I work alot of hours.

No I’m not a medical professional, but I have to be there. Yes, we take precautions but I’m very concerned

about my wife’s condition and her immune system. The other day I drove her to her appointment for treatment.

I did think of retiring from blogging but you know what? I love writing, it’s who I am!

And I love your posts! So I’m still working out some modifications.

Now back to my sandwich. Wow, this cheese is great! And the wheat bread is fabulous.

Peace.

Strength to Each Other

20191002_165221

In times of crises our eyes search through our masks,

for safety, for strength

with our hearts longing to feel the surge

of our common humanity

to no longer feel alone,

so we write,

we draw

and paint,

and photograph,

to encourage ourselves

and to give strength

to each other.

Because that’s who we are,

it’s what makes us

human.

A Day in the Life

20170531_193957

Well, it’s just about time for a turkey sandwich, with mayo and a slice of American cheese, on whole wheat.

(Yes, I know American is not good for me!) Sometimes I use a mild Cheddar or even Colby, but straight Colby

not Colby Jack. I wish I could say I put lettuce and tomatoes on it, but to be honest, that rarely happens.

For breakfast I start with English Breakfast Tea, and a small amount of very, very dark chocolate. High octane dark

is very high in nutrients and low in sugar. Then for the meal it’s egg whites with cheese! I also place a lot of pepper,

oregano and other spices in them. I didn’t really receive any inspiration for a poem today,

I think it’s because I was still wrapped up in the Piers Morgan interview on the news channel.

I do recommend it. He basically said the President needs to stop politicizing and electioneering the pandemic.

This is not about the election! This is about saving lives, and taking care of the American people. The focus is too much on him! Ok enough said.

Now back to my turkey sandwich. Don’t tell my wife, but I’m also having some Utz brand potato chips. Love em!

Later, it’s time to excercise.

I wish you peace and good health.
