Our tapestries are not made from our battle scars or tears,

but from our courage,

the audacity to survive,

in the refusal to give up,

we somehow learn to create

new beginnings,

as if it was spring again,

with purple infusing our being,

we build something beautiful

once again.

Note: I will never thank God for my wife having cancer, only for the courage for both us to survive.

  1. I love the metaphor of our lives, our beings, being that of a tapestry. I immediately thought of a beautiful and colorful tapestry with the gold thread of courage running throughout. Love and light to you and your wife. Thanks to both of you for being models of courage and inspiration. 💖

  2. Wonderful, beautiful, and positive perspective, Nico. I can relate to how you feel because of my daughter’s illness even though she doesn’t have cancer. We simply don’t want our loved ones to suffer in any way. Sending comforting hugs…
