A Brighter Future

As I was walking yesterday a neighbor came out of her house, with her hands in the air yelling, “We have a new president!” I said yes we do!

And she walked around her front yard, yelling, praying, crying, all at the same time with eyes closed, saying, “Oh my God!”, Oh my God!”

And I began to realize how deep the scars have been over the past four years. And my friends, it hasn’t been one side just arguing with…

the other side and the result is the fighting going back and forth. No.

It has been the far right enabling a president’s lies, racism, denying climate change, attacking Dr. Fauci, a lack of coronavirus response,

and so many other wrongs, and the other side trying to stop it. Trying to protect our democracy, protect our people. Yet I can see a much brighter future now….

a future where we can actually be neighbors again. Suddenly I can hear Dr. Martin Luther King’s voice say, “I have a dream today….” “I have a dream.”

May it be so. May we declare freedom from the mountain tops.

  1. I pray for the healing of this country too. I was moved to tears by President-elect Biden’s speech last night and inspired by the first woman Vice President, Kamala Harris. I have renewed faith in our country, in America and all that we stand for. May we once again be reminded to love our neighbor, to listen with intent to understand one another. We are first and foremost, Americans, and maybe that is where we start our conversation, on common ground. I am hopefulโ™ฅ

    1. Sue thank you for your beautiful comments! Yes, you are so right. And I love your comments about being a good neighbor again. I pray so, I hope so! Peace and wonderful blessings to you.

  2. I pray Nehemiah’s prayer for this nation that we may once again turn our eyes toward God, and that He may heal this land. ” โ€œI pray, Lord God of heaven…You who keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and observe Your commandments, please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant…Both my fatherโ€™s house and I have sinned. We have acted very corruptly against You, and have not kept the commandments…Remember, I pray, the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, โ€˜If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations; but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My nameโ€™ ” (Neh. 1: 5-9).

    1. Thank you Anna for your thoughtful and insightful comments! As you may have guessed I’m not as conservative as I used to be. And I think there is a difference between having a secular government and having a personal faith. For example we are now a country of many faiths. And with that in mind I believe we can have an excellent government and respect all people. Each of us may disagree but we are all Americans and part of this great country. Thank you again. Peace and wonderful blessings to you.

  3. Beautiful and inspiring! I cried on Saturday and again listening to President-elect Biden and Kamala Harris speaking. It gave me hope~hope in humanity and a brighter future. It seemed as though I awakened from a bad dream. Itโ€™s not going to be a smooth transition I fear. However, I know what will be. May our country lead with respect and integrity again, and unite with others in shared visions and goals for the precious lives on this planet. God bless you!

    1. Thank you K.L. so much! I feel the same way. They gave some awesome speeches, didn’t they? Speaking of a time of unity and healing! Awesome. Seeing my neighbor weeping and praying for joy really hit me. Yes the nightmare is ending. The current president will be pushed aside a forgotten bad dream. Ever notice how we forget bad dreams very quickly? Peace my friend and wonderful blessings. God bless you and yours.
