You Need to Know

If you came here thinking I was a conservative Republican, you need to know that I’m not….and never will be again. It happened long before king for a day #45.

I am pro-mask (only when needed), pro-vaccine, pro-common sense approach to science and faith.

Here’s some science…..ready? When I look up at the sky and it’s blue with white puffy clouds it means it will probably not rain that day. Storm clouds mean it probably will rain. That’s science and it’s that simple.

Science is simply drawing conclusions from evidence. Thin wispy clouds in a blue sky? This usually means it will rain in a day or so.

I will never be part of the AR15 culture that is mostly right wing white people. I’m sorry but it’s true. I watched the January 6th riot live as it happened. Next to each other, side by side, were banners of white supremacists and confederate flags with assault rifles painted on them, and unfortunately some Jesus banners.

I saw three Jesus banners. That’s not who I am and never will be. To be honest I don’t think I can survive another president like king for a day #45. There’s simply too much brutality and lying.

I would not leave this nation and our medical insurance is here which we so desperately need. Yet I wonder if Ireland is accepting American immigrants?

  1. People like you will always find open and welcoming arms, Nico. Like attracts like. It is wonderful to get an excerpt of who you are. Blessings, dear friend!

    1. Thank you Zelda for your kindness and beautiful comments! Today’s post (which I wasn’t planning) developed for two reasons. Years ago when I started this blog it was always for creative writing, including fiction, but I also shared faith based posts sometimes. I would quote a part of a Psalm or maybe one of the Saints. I changed over the years, my faith changed. I also went from a super conservative to a progressive person and now I’m more moderate with progressive leanings. So, I wanted my long time readers to understand that. Secondly I have been deeply and horribly disappointed with some elements of Christianity, heartbroken really. Many claiming faith seem very toxic to me, to the point of I’m not able to bear it. I have to separate from them. So thus the post. In a way this was another way for me to separate myself from the toxic. Thank you so much for being here, and again for your kindness. Peace and wonderful blessings to you.

      1. Well thanks for your thoughts…I’m feeling rather delicate, so I thought maybe I (or my faith) was too much for you. I, too, have suffered/been deeply wounded by toxic (harsh/lacking in God’s grace) Christianity and toxic (unloving & judgmental) Christians. It’s not good, but people are people–everywhere, in every religion and philosophy. Doesn’t matter–you be you, and I’ll be me 🙂 Blessings.

      2. Zelda I’m so sorry you have been hurt! I really appreciate your gentle and heartfelt posts. And thank you so much for being here. I do appreciate you. Peace and beautiful blessings to you. God bless you.

  2. I am glad to know this, glad to meet you here, as personal as you wish to be or not, and I would be tempted to leave … but now that there is an affordable care act and I can be insured I am particularly glad!

  3. I hear you. We are all individuals with individual brains that God gave us to use. Use of bullying, brutality and lying is not part of my faith. Australia’s medical system is not perfect, but EVERYONE has access to public health including dental health, mental health, aged care and much more. Private health like anywhere is for those who can afford it but it’s not impossible with the available choices of cover. I don’t follow politics anywhere but I’m not blind nor death when I see unfairness, even hatred in world leaders. May God help us all.

    1. Thank you Chrissy so much! Yes, I’m a little familiar with your medical care. Of the 12 top western nations the US has the worst and the most expensive health care of all. As far as people and politics I needed to express this today. Our country continues down some wrong roads to the right – meaning way right and that concerns me a great deal. In many cases this involves Christians including something called a “Patriot Church”. Thank you again. Peace and beautiful blessings to you.

    1. Thank you so much! I wish I was serious. My wife has cancer and is on chemo so we are unable to travel that far. I will keep it in mind though. Portugal is one of my favorite places I’ve never been to. Peace and wonderful blessings to you.

    1. Thank you Jeff for your encouraging comments! I do have some conservative readers and I knew it would get a smaller response, but this has been on my heart for a while and I needed to say it. Peace my friend and wonderful blessings.

  4. Hi Nico,
I appreciate your honesty, and I’m on the same page. If he runs again, I fear my family will run. I feel that our country is even worse nowadays. We don’t have grandchildren yet, but honestly, with the state of our country and world, we just want our adult son and daughter to be happy, safe, healthy, and stable on their feet. As to Christianity, we were both raised going to church, so we raised our children in the same way. But recently, we have stopped going to our church after 15 years because of unChristian members. Sometimes, I find that people who call themselves Christians act less Christian than those who don’t believe. Fellowship can be beneficial and wonderful, but you don’t have to attend a church to believe in God. Anyway, thank you for opening up. Prayers for all of us, for our country, and for our planet. ❤️

    1. Lauren I can’t thank you enough for you’re heartfelt comments! I’m sorry you had to stop going to church, and I completely understand! It can be devastating to be go through these types of experiences. And you’re right some non church going friends can seem more Christian. I find that astonishing. Yes, I go to church online only due to the pandemic and my wife’s health. My faith is strong. And thank you for your prayers for all of us. I’m so glad you are part of my blog. Peace and wonderful blessings to you.

  5. It is so good to read your practical and wise perspectives – I am drawn to your poetry because of your openmindedness as evident from this post. I cannot conform to any religion that goes against the very nature of being human and honoring our planet with our truthful living.
