Boots

large-fort

I’m not sure when we fell in love with the sound of stormtroopers boots,

or embraced the concept that strong means destroying other people,

or why we’ve always mistreated people that are brown.

Don’t let anyone fool you, even if they’re waving flags,

hatred is, and will always be unequivocally……. un-American.

Where are you Dr. King?

I Often Think of Hawks

20190507_133518.jpg

When I walk this trail, as so many generations did before,

through the shadows of the pines,

over the large rocks and small,

I often think of hawks,

and shadows of wings

covering the earth

and of a people

who roamed free.

Dr. Martin Luther King

from pbs

“Darkness can’t drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate can’t drive out hate; only love can do that.”

“We have before us the glorious opportunity to inject a new dimension of love into the veins of our civilization.”

Dr. Martin Luther King

May God give us the courage, and the humility

to stand up to hatred in our world today

and to be the love

we so desperately need.

Angel Talk II

And the angel said to her:

“Sister, you don’t need another strong-man with a club, designing

your mirror for you, telling you

what you need, you know better….

here hon

here’s – a handkerchief

to dry your eyes.”

“Do you remember that dream,

where I spoke to you?”

“You were 12 then – remember?

the dream of being queen?”

(they both smiled remembering,

as she wiped her eyes)

“Now hon, go and get that embrace

I told you about then….

the one that lasts

an eternity.”

“You will know hon, when it happens…..”

And when she awoke, the angel was gone, but she slipped out of bed, and quietly dressed. She carefully went out the door, leaving the strong-man with his club, by himself, sleeping.

And she never looked back again,

not ever.
