In our night songs we can move beyond our borders, hearts at rest,
with a quiet calm we slip easily
into dreams of peace,
and into the wings
enfolding us.

I’ve never been held prisoner in Belgium, yet the nights here are quite strange. I found there is more than one phantom flying over the castle at night. I can never see them when I’m a human though, only when I’m a bat or an owl. In other words, a creature of the night.
And the Countess is a bit of an oddball to be honest. Young and beautiful, but constantly whispering under her breath. I’ve caught her watching me several times. And once…..out of the corner of my eye……
I thought I saw her walking through a wall, her long auburn hair the last bit of her flowing through. Is she even real? To be honest, I don’t know.
Yet form changing, in your time you call it “shape shifting” is a new skill for me, and being an owl is magnificent! These wings! And at night I can see everything for miles.
So for now I avoid the Countess, and I sit in one of these very tall trees that have been here for hundreds of years. My favorite are the elms.
Besides, lately I’ve acquired a taste…….for mice.
Regards,
Emma

This is a creative writing blog, and as you probably know, I love writing poetry and fiction!
And I am a person of faith. I was a very conservative person years ago, but no longer.
No, it was not Donald Trump that changed my views, but his success confirmed what I already knew.
Anyway it’s been at least 5 years since I walked away from conservativism.
Now, I’ve said these things, to let you know that I do have boundaries, or a framework for my writing.
I don’t ever remember typing a curse word here. I don’t condemn anyone that does, but I’ve decided not to.
When it comes to love, it is God given and perfectly natural to write about. Can it go overboard? Absolutely!
Some people of faith though avoid love like the plague, but I think that’s a real shame.
I’m a writer, and this young couple we have just met in The Colors of the Night Sky will find each other, and yes there will be some spice.
I will not go overboard. My intention is to write a great story, that’s authentic.
I’m having a great time writing!
Thank you for reading!

Fur coated dragons drifted into the kingdom during the night, along with a fresh coat of ice.
Snow swirled from time to time, giving a false sense of innocence to the difusion of light.
Yet the dragons only carried a holy fire, so the people were not afraid when the fires broke out.
They had waited so very long for deliverance, from leaders gone rogue, only the guilty were burned.
The people were sober, it was not a time to rejoice, but they knew what the dragons had done, was right.
And the fur coated dragons returned to their kingdom, in the cover of night. The ice remained, yet silent.
Snow swirled from time to time, giving a false sense of innocence.

Night Song lingered gently as sunlight broke open the sky,
ducks stirred
in their feathers,
and sparrows began their day
painting the canvas
of the blue sky.

In the evening light, thoughts of a softer night
in deeper, darker blue
revelations bringing
words
to encourage.
