Streaks of Light Dancing Through the Treetops

On the tree tops, where the leaves meet the skies,

where blue jays fuss, and robins gather

with a few sparrows

an offering lifted, the wind

carrying our prayer

with streaks of light

dancing through the treetops,

on a summer evening.

Watching You Walk in the Tall Grass

Yes I do dream about you and I, in the green, watching you walk in the tall grass,

our fingers lightly touching, a breeze gently moving your hair

as you smile at me. Do you remember filling our

buckets with strawberries?

And I love the way

the sun brushes your cheek

in the fields

of June.

Seagulls Descending for a Piece of Bread

In our coldest moments our minds can drift back to the ocean

warmer days, the sun reflecting the light to our faces

and seagulls descending for a piece of bread

the noise of children playing, splashing,

while lovers hold hands walking

along the beach.

They say the ocean is beautiful with snowflakes

falling, but we never think of that

on the warmer days.
