Shining Brightly in the Sun

Oceans 184

Green and blue rolling, shining brightly in the sun

as the seagulls hover, expecting bread

the wind moving your straw hat,

in our beach chairs

I watch you reading,

and I silently wonder

how I ever lived without you,

and again

you take my breath away,

so I pledge my life to you

all over again

silently.

Beach Flowers

20160615_182847

As the summer recedes and slowly pulls away from the beach,

at least the flowers are persistent, still pulling life

from barren sand.

This always amazes me.

All I want from this summer My Love,

are our memories. Of you and I in our beach chairs,

and playing in the waves.

My Love and I at the Beach

100_0668

Our chairs under the umbrella

the tube

of suntan lotion

with your fingers

on my back

rubbing gently

covering me.

Bottles of water

in our cup holders,

as you open a book

I wipe sand off

our apples.

Later the smell of lavender in our room

as you step out of the shower,

wrapped

in a towel.

My Love!

soft music playing

in the background.

As you call me “handsome”, with your hands on my beard

we gaze into each other’s eyes, reflecting the waves

I realize, we should have food delivered

tonight.

Note: These are wonderful memories.  We are not at the beach right now.

Summer Adventure

100_0884

Packing cold water in a cooler

our camp supplies in a canvas bag

smearing suntan lotion, a hat

t-shirt and shorts.

Hauling gear, and trekking 50 yards of the Sahara

so we can bathe in the glories of the ocean

and rest in the sand, shaded.

Listening

to the waves, and drifting

off to sleep.

Dreaming of adventure, and stories to write.

Dusk on the Beach

20160615_175716Sadly My Love, even a day on the beach must come to an end

but as the seagulls retreat, the moon will guard

the waves, and bathe the sand

in her warm glow.

And you and I can walk and whisper,

holding hands, our feet

getting wet with

the grey.

We can find my flip-flops tomorrow.

Love at the Beach

Oceans 195

A Prose Poem

Not acting our age, you take off running, “You can’t catch me!” “Yes I can!” You give up, and I yell, “Gothcha!” “Don’t you DARE tickle me again!” Laughing, then holding you, we both look at the waves, “Listen a love song…” “I hear it….”

“Look our shadows.” “Where’s the camera, here……hold still……” “My cowboy!” “Sshhhh, someone might hear you!” “Hold still…got it.” “I love how you look on the beach.” Our foreheads meet, eyes locked in on each other.  Lips greeting one another, as if they were lost, and now they were found. They get entangled in a beautiful mess. The muffled sounds of, “I will always love you.” And “You taste like peanut butter.” Laughing again, and whispering next to the waves.

I love when we don’t act our age.

Moonlight on the Beach

136

I don’t think I’ve ever seen you,

more beautiful,

than with the moonlight,

dancing in your hair,

holding hands, walking,

we tell our deepest secrets,

without saying a word. Oneness.

When I see your eyelids close,

I know you are praying,

or at least breathing in,

the divinity of the moment.

Our energy, our love,

flowing, tells us both,

we can let go,

there is no need to worry.

the security of waves,

and the assurance,

of the endless.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen you,

more beautiful,

than with the moonlight,

dancing in your hair.

At the Beach

At the Beach

My toes dig into the sand

saying, you are not moving me from here

our base camp is established.

Sinking into the chair,

dreaming with waves

next to my better half.

She says, are you awake?

I tell her no, smiling.

Our children in, up to their necks,

then they stand up, enjoying the crash.

Did that wave come from Africa?

She was 6, now she’s studying physics,

endless waves, and dreams, and sky.

I feel old but I’m calm.

Was I asleep?

Looking out to sea – seagulls, and dolphins,

then my toes dig into the sand,

saying you are not moving me from here,

our base camp is established.
