My Brothers and Sisters

ranch with hills

North Dakota doesn’t have a city,

a ranch instead blinded,

by country dreams of paradise.

I love nature, and the peace,

of a gentle breeze on the meadow,

but I heard someone screaming,

on 2nd avenue,

I think it was Chicago, waking me up,

a broken heart was crying again,

on 1st street, was she ok?

and The Clash were praying loudly,

at the cathedral.

Next door the museum had jazz,

holding up artwork,

with hooks and bobbie-pins,

budget cuts. Almost empty.

Elvis was on Maple Street,

stuck in time,

wild eyes darting, looking,

for the next bus out of town,

bumming a cigarette.

I heard the street preacher,

with his white pit bull discerning,

on East and Main, who needed salvation,

was he crazy?

I started packing sandwiches,

no agenda,

I just needed to get down to the city,

to be with the human beings,

to be, with my brothers and sisters.

Heroes of Compassion

mother teresa looking

Is it possible to miss people,

you’ve never met?

people who stand tall in your mind,

people who mean something,

to all of us,

warriors on the battlefield,

like Gandhi,

like Mother Teresa,

strong, and gentle at the same time,

leading us with their words,

from so long ago,

their example shining like the sun,

encouraging us to be human,

to care,

and to make a difference,

putting faith into action,

faith in humanity,

that just one of us,

can do great things.

What can I do today?

How can I make a difference?

Sometimes it’s just a matter,

of our hands and feet,

being led by our heart.

Who is your hero?

love and life

Note: There are ordinary heroes all over the world, but these are two famous ones that I greatly admire.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Nepal. If you don’t pray think some positive thoughts.

Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

A Note About Brothers and Sisters

from angelojohngage.blogspot

Who should I call my brother?

Who should I call my sister?

Is it not everyone?

Is there one person,

I am not related to?

If you murder,

that is a different story,

and if you hate,

we will part ways.

If you love,

then we are connected.

Love as one,

each different,

each beautiful,

be the person,

you were meant to be.

 Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

Love in Ten Sentences

Love is the foundation,

love is an obligation.

 Love is a choice,

love has a voice.

 Love says – not me,

love says you instead.

 Love is a neighbor,

love carries no sabre.

 Loves says, no hopelessness,

love says, no homelessness!

One of my favorite quotes is: “It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.” Mother Teresa

One life can truly make a difference! This poem is from the challenge I accepted from Shreyarvj over at the The Open Window . Please visit her awesome blog at She writes wonderful poetry! This particular challenge is for 10 lines, each with only 4 words. The word love has to be in each line. Also part of the challenge is to nominate other people to participate, to do the same. Here is who I nominate:

The Sounds of Heaven

from marksdailyapple

Some believe there will be shouting,

jumping up and down,

lots of noise.

I doubt it,

He is a God of peace,

walking in the Garden,

in the cool of the day.

Angels do proclaim,

making grand announcements,

if we say anything,

I think we will be face down,

saying, “have mercy on us”,

for messing up our world,

not taking care of each other,

have mercy.

If there is any noise,

I hope it will be peaceful,

some wooden flutes,

and just maybe –

a drum or two.

 Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

When archeologists find our bones,

when we’ve been in the ground,

ten thousand years,

will they discover –

the ancient words,

of love your neighbor,

love your enemy,

and it will be given?

I wonder,

and I long for,

those ancient words.

Will they discover the word,

green and blue water fall

When the earth was new,

there was plenty of food to eat,

clean food,

no money involved,

and there was no fighting,

no war,

no hate.

Now we have millions,citystreet

and billions to feed,

ideas leading hate,

to kill us.

We cannot always live,

but I look forward,

I long for,

the day,

when it is all put right,

where there is clean food,

for everyone,

where love and peace,

rule on the earth.

Heal us God,

and restore us,

so we can live,

once again.

Restoration. tropical saturn

Wolves and Bears

wolf from google

Wolves can’t really help themselves,

howling is part of their nature.

Bears roar, naturally,

and no one can stop them.

But why do humans growl?

great angry words,

biting words,

chewing bitterness.

No one is healed,

only injured.

But I have seen healing,

with kind words,

a touch on the shoulder,

a prayer,

an embrace,

positive vibes,

and a smile.

Help us to be,

speaking good things,

and as gentle,

as bear cubs.
