The Awakening

It was as if the two of them were floating, traveling within their dreams. In the cloud covered sunlight, they felt themselves moving high above the Earth, and heading towards the Great Sea. The sea and the sky became one, clouds and water within a mist, washing them.

They were lost in this other world, but it was not unpleasant. Floating brought peace, and there was no time here, just the moving through the mist of blue. The smell of water.

But as they moved without a particular space and time, the sun suddenly pierced their consciousness, and began shining on their faces. As they returned to their bodies, the warmth brought back their spirits, and woke them, as if from a very deep sleep.

Where Our Dreams Are

On the trails….down by the lake where we used to know

our unsaid prayers, where

our dreams are still cared for

oak leaves will guide us

by their strength,

so that we can find

who we once were,

in that place we use to call

It Was 11:30 PM

It was 11:30 PM when he made his last cup of coffee, stirring in the creamer while the rain pelted his kitchen window.

It was the wind that sent sheets of rain, lashing out in waves again and again. He was glad to be home.

It wasn’t much of an apartment but it was peaceful. Dimly lit, he kept only 2 lights on, like his father had taught him.

Should he read the paper? He headed for his chair. He realized nobody really read the paper anymore, did they? He decided instead to get out his travel book – the one on Ireland.

Someday he wouldn’t be working 18 hour shifts at the hospital anymore.

It was 12:10 AM when he fell asleep in his chair, the book still open on his lap, as he dreamed of a cottage by the sea.

A Word for Wednesday – Great Dreams

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion, to reach for the stars, to change the world.”

Harriet Tubman

The word for today is two words, “great dreams”.

We all have dreams, hopes, and plans for our future. But are we embracing the time we have today? Embrace today, and work on your dreams for a better tomorrow. If your big dreams seem too difficult to accomplish, work on smaller ones.

Harriet Tubman was right, you do have it within you – to accomplish great things! And they all begin with great dreams – in other words – your ideas!

You really can change the world.

“When we love people, we give them hope.”

One Conversation

And one night he had a dream, where he was talking to a woman he had never met before. She had been so wounded in life, so torn to pieces, that she lived in a dark place. Was it a cave? Perhaps she lived in fear, and would not come out of her house.

He could see her face, and they were talking about food. He noticed that all of her food came from cans. So he mentioned about food that was healthy, but not in a preachy way. He saw her, as equal to himself.

More importantly he told her she was valuable, that her life did matter. He began to inspire her with things she could really do, and that life held possibilities. Hopefully she felt that someone cared about her.

In the dream he realized, that this is how you do damage, to the realm of darkness

simply one conversation, at a time.

And now he hopes, and prays, he will meet her someday.

The vision gets us through the fire

or at least helps us to create,

see something of the future.

Writings of stone become so real

to us as we linger, shaping

who we want to be.

A prophecy shared.

Dream it, see it

live it.

The Sound of Bells

Mountains and Rivers 335

Ghosts don’t mind the sound of bells

reminding them of easier times, of joy

a church with a wedding, a ship guided

safely through the fog, along with wood creaking

brings a sense of hope. But some ghosts enjoy the grey,

waiting for a warm fire in an empty house

absorbing the silence, the lack of a body,

to care for. Most of them though, long for eyes,

real eyes, veins pumping real blood

so please don’t laugh at them when they search

for a body with a pulse, and for bells,

reminding them of easier times.

Maine and More 158

There is no dreamer without a dream,

no prophet without a message,

every vision can have a star,

words living, burning in us,

keeping our hope alive.

Keep dreaming, planning, doing,

in spite of the pain,

in spite of the bleeding,

for in this struggle,

we can truly live,

making our dreams, and us,

stronger than ever.

Go for it.
