To the One I Love

Mountains and Rivers 433

There are so many reasons I have,

to hold you in my heart,

in my arms,

it’s not just what you bring,

to the table,

or what you give,

it’s who you are.

You are my eyes when I can’t see,

my heart of compassion,

for others, you taught me,

to care,

to breathe blessings,

living in the forgiving,

to have a heart that makes sense,

and to not let go.

What can I give you in return?

ten thousand roses?

No, I have only one thing I can give,

Myself.

Everything that I am, my faithfulness,

everything that I have,

my heart, and love,

belongs to you only,

I give you myself.

we give each other,

the greatest of gifts,

each other.

The Invitation

Old Photos 001

In the beginning the two,

wounded souls, became one,

looking for paradise,

finding each other, finding ourselves,

wrapped with each other’s arms,

every hurt dealt with,

every scar vanquished,

every negative energy,

conquered.

Love gave us permission to have,

soothing sleep,

I said yes, and you stopped hiding,

we both grew wings.

We turned,

and saw for the first time,

there was more,

than rocks and stone,

compassion came, and a gentle spirit,

was priceless.

With time, love gave an invitation,

opening, our minds,

to the One who made us.

Only He could make something,

so beautiful,

love opened the door,

to more.

Scenes of Summer

Mountains and Rivers 230

I love the smell of the living green,

leaves in the breeze,

the warmth of the early morning sun,

hiking with you,

on the trails, pretending,

we are the only people left,

and the earth is reborn.

Adam and Eve?

a new beginning, in the woods,

the sky watching us,

looking at the veins of a leaf,

you can see the Creator.

Hours of talking, and walking,

sensing the earth,

and where we belong,

then hiding, in the cabin,

when it gets too warm,

eating a bowl of oatmeal,

with a side of fruit salad.

I love summer.

In the Passage of Time

Oceans 771

In the passage of time,

our bodies have shifted,

not according to plan,

but hearts strong,

and our love grows deep.

So I wonder how we will be,

at 80 years old?

Will there be a spark?

or will we be, two embers,

fading, isolated from each other?

You looked at me and said,

“By His grace,

we will still have, the hearts of lions,

fighting the war of love,

a bonfire of light,

in spite of the aches and pains.”

You’re right My Love,

we ain’t done yet,

your smile says it all,

and I love,

the sparkle in your eyes!

Moonlight

Oceans 171

Why do our problems seem so small,

when we walk in the moonlight?

Is it the sun reflecting?

or the wings on our hearts?

Is it our two hands,

joined together?

Or the embrace,

as I lean over to kiss,

your cheek.

Yes, and there is so much more,

that strengthens us.

I love walking with you,

I wish every night,

were a moonlight night.

No One Ever Saw Me

Oceans 794

No one ever saw me,

the way you did,

discovering,

with long distance vision,

my gold vein,

under jagged rocks.

You took a chance,

on a piece of the Dead Sea,

opening your wounds,

I walked in with healing balm,

a rose,

wondering, hoping,

you would accept me,

if you would reject the wounds,

I had.

We embraced each other,

and every thorn, every cut,

one heart bleeding,

then healed,

as I became your knight,

and you became my river.

All because,

no one ever saw me,

the way you did.

My Love.

In August

Maine and More 054

In August I think of the park,

by the lake, with the picnic table,

I was your knight on one knee,

humbled by your love,

my queen.

It was a royal season,

victories won without banners,

scars erased, swords put away,

winning purple velvet,

throwing away burlap.

For the first time,

we trusted,

gold and silver,

came to the surface,

we never knew,

what love was, until,

we discovered the safety,

of each other.

It began in August,

in the park, by the lake.
