On the Deck

Maine and More 300

As we ride the waves,

further off the coast,

the horizon of infinity,

seems closer.

What is it about the ocean,

that makes us cry?

Your eyes filled with tears,

ready to launch,

as my heart sinks,

looking at your face,

I realize, I was wrong,

like I often am.

Tossed,

as the boat picks up speed,

I want to break my own heart,

can I reach out?

will you pull back?

I risk a kiss,

on your forehead,

as we hold on to the railing,

the words come out softly,

will you forgive me?

I’m sorry I was angry.

You hesitate,

and risk everything, accepting my embrace,

as the sky meets the ocean,

we are one again,

falling into each other’s arms,

healed,

through forgiveness.

The Red

Mountains and Rivers 132

I will never forget,

the red bursting,

calling me,

 to live with her,

to look deep inside,

and to forsake all others,

including the yellow,

to know,

there really is a peace,

from above,

a love,

that lasts forever,

that colors live,

in the universe.

I will always be grateful,

for the red.

Sailing in My Heart

Maine and More 335

If I had a lot of money,

I would take you away,

sailing into the blue,

through the islands,

my arms holding you,

on the deck, loving the foam, the waves,

laughing at the healed wounds,

embracing the sunsets.

Burying moments in our hearts,

holding hands, breakfast at sunrise,

throwing worry overboard,

forever free, with the wind.

For now though,

we do have the mountains,

treasuring moments like quilts,

holding each other,

next to the garden, a rose,

sitting on the front porch,

holding hands, drinking iced tea.

Can I take your picture again?

I want to remember this,

your face,

and the joy.

In the Shadows

Maine and More 164

When the sun is on the other side,

the rocks cast a shadow,

and I notice you again,

with the background of the waves,

I will never forget,

your face in the wind,

on this rugged coast,

tenderness, and beauty, in the rocks,

pine trees surrounding the queen,

royalty of gentleness,

with a walking stick,

and a smile.

I know it’s time to give in,

no more hiking.

Did you know you had red in your hair?

Wait! Another picture, turn to the side,

yes hold that,

beautiful!

I love the way the shadows,

play with your color, your skin.

You are the most beautiful scenery,

I have ever seen.

Blessings to everyone and peace!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

The View

Mountains and Rivers 228

As we stand here together,

like two angels searching,

into the endless, we have no words,

but there is the thrill of purity,

we cannot see prejudice from here,

hatred is hidden,

our hearts sing silently,

wondering,

if the world will ever improve,

will good win in the end?

Then we breathe the mountain,

see further into the horizon,

and we realize together,

as I take your hand,

we know Who wins,

your eyes pondering my smile,

everything will be made right again,

we hope.

As I put my arm around you,

we lift up a silent prayer.

Blessings to everyone and peace!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

The Underground Spring

Mountains and Rivers 401

My heart was the hardened earth,

a soul filled with rocks, dry sand,

but you saw something,

under the surface, and started digging,

you told me I had gold,

but I didn’t believe you,

until I trusted, until you showed me,

the water, flowing from your heart,

and I could sing.

My sand turned,

into healthy soil,

rocks made smooth,

receiving the water, and the sun,

born again,

green began to grow,

and I was alive,

and understanding,

the Creator.

Do you know how much that means?

Forever flourishing,

from the underground spring,

and loving you, for always.

Blessings to everyone and peace!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

The View from Our Window

Maine and More 255

Tonight more than any other night,

let’s sit by the window,

so we can take in,

the water, the coastline.

I will always remember Maine,

hiding in our bungalow,

your face reflecting the sun.

Is roast beef ok?

Lost, staring at each other,

remembering the single rose,

on our first date,

I hand you another one.

Hearts melting,

I take your hand in mine,

and bring it to my face,

tears streaming,

flooded with love for you.

I guess the roast beef can wait,

as we close the curtains,

and pull down the shades,

our lips find each other.

Happy Anniversary sweetheart,

you know I love you,

tears and kisses blending,

My Love.

Note: This is about an anniversary celebration from years past. It’s not our anniversary today, but sometimes I do look back on this.

Blessings to everyone and peace!

The Doves

flying doves

When I see the doves,

I know there is some tenderness, left in this world,

in spite of the hawks,

and the crows making loud noises,

the doves are always gentle,

always determined to be,

vulnerable.

Under the surface,

I think they are fighters,

fighting for peace,

and always faithful, watching,

their love, the strength of two.

I’m not sure a dove would ever speak to me,

but if he did,

I think he would say, keep loving,

keep the peace in your heart,

guard it and keep it safe.

And always,

always be faithful, be gentle,

in spite of, the hawks and the crows.

Amen.

The Light of May

white and purple iris

The light of May is softer,

than the oppression of summer,

the blistering, burning heat.

In May, the light soothes the soul,

relieving us from the harsh,

condemning cold, and renews us,

with warm energy infusing.

The iris will flourish in May,

and the carnation, the beauty,

of a rose, life giving.

In May, our love is new again,

and never ending.

I will always love,

the wonderful light of May.

Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

Eternal Hearts

space 3

When they find our bones,

one million years from now,

will they see our love etched?

Will they be able to measure our heart cries,

with scientific instruments?

our echoes in the stars.

They say there is no marriage in heaven,

but I wonder if He would reconsider,

make an exception, for these two souls,

temporary bones, but eternal hearts.

I’m not ready for false teeth,

and we still have the spark,

but whenever we do meet in heaven,

may our spirits join hands,

as we bow, in the light,

before our Creator.

Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”
