When leaves fall, my heart is strengthened
breathing in
the cycle of life.

I’m surprised by how autumn’s light still encourages me,
the sun warming tree branches,
a brighter light unhindered
it is a matter of letting go,
isn’t it?
a crisp layer under my feet
we begin again,
refusing to yield
to the coming bluster
of winter wind.

As I walk through the woods now, there are so many maple leaves descending,
oaks leaves spinning
floating,
finding tree bark to hold onto
then falling again.
Others refuse to let go
shimmering
in the soft autumn sun.

And I realize I’ve known so many heart songs,
of prior seasons…..of heartbreaks,
opening, bringing in the light
gliding into open spaces
and guiding me
with phrases.
So I wonder, and I look forward to
the heart songs
yet to be discovered.
Autumn wordflow.

Each step seemed to bring me closer to the secret realm, which really wasn’t a secret at all, simply unseen.
This path of peace, this chosen way of light wasn’t always easy,
what treasure is ever easy to find? Worthy,
embracing the forest and yet more
of who I am, was always worthy.
I will always choose to breathe,
this way
stepping lightly
into the realm
of wholeness again.

Somehow it was the light through the leaves that caught my attention, I paused…..realizing I could hope again,
I closed my eyes and at first a prayer took shape, and then my wordflow began to be born again.
A poem spun, dancing in the sunlight as I stood amazed,
in the new day of the forest….
