True leadership is not a matter of following brutality and strife,
it is simply in the attitude of humility
the lifting up
of our humanity.

In love, the weeds of pride cannot live and criticism
loses its soil, because in love – humility
takes root, deep within
our hearts.

Humility says I respect you, and will listen with my ears, and my heart.
Pride says I don’t really care, and I will only pretend to listen.
Fortunately, in the end – humility wins.

“When we love people, we give them hope.”
A poem by St. Francis of Assisi
No one
knows his name –
a man who lives on the streets
and walks around in
rags.
Once I saw that man in a dream.
He and God were constructing
an extraordinary
temple.
Poetry by St. Francis of Assisi 1182 – 1226

Humility is not weakness. In fact one definition I’ve heard (I can’t remember where) is that humility is: “strength under control”. I think that is an excellent definition.
Some of my favorite people from history seemed to have been filled with humility, and yet their character was incredibly strong. Chief Joseph (also known as, Thunder Coming Down from the Mountain), Mahatma Gandhi, and Mother Teresa, impacted millions of lives, because of their strength through humility.
Can we cultivate humility? I think so. I’m not sure if we are born with it, but I do know that if we work at it, our humility can grow.
By the way, humility also produces compassion, because humility says, you are more important than I am. Humility says, “I choose to care.”
Have a great weekend, and I wish you peace.

“If you love nature, you will love people.”
There’s a thin line between confidence and arrogance….it’s called humility. Confidence smiles. Arrogance smirks.
Author Unknown
Some people think that humility is a sign of weakness. Nothing could be further from the truth! Confidence simply means we know who we are, we know what we’re doing, and we are going to remain positive no matter the outcome.
Humility does not mean we walk around depressed, with our head hanging low! No way. However, humility does keep us from becoming arrogant. Arrogance is the bad type of pride that makes us think we are better than other people. It can cause divisions, and hurt other people, without even caring that pain has been inflicted.
So I think the author is saying that having humility is important in order for us to have balance. Smirking is no good, because our heart is not right, and it causes pain. Smiling is very good, because it tells other people, you still care, but you know who you are. You are a positive person!
Have a great week!
Peace.
