No More Giants

Old Photos 128

Giants in gray uniforms,

don’t walk these beaches anymore,

no military boots, with swords,

calling for slavery, still there are shadows,

that linger in the hearts of some,

waiting to be released,

waiting to inject,

with hatred.

They are losing every day,

as love grows strong,

and respect for people,

love will win,

love always wins,

just too slowly sometimes.

We just need a few more,

shepherd boys, and girls,

men and women with slingshots,

ready to fight, and take down,

the Goliath of prejudice.

We will win.

This is our beach now,

this is our land.

Questions

Oceans 266

If I told You how I feel,

would You get angry?

I don’t want to be a seeker,

anymore,

I feel stupid sometimes,

looking for strength,

in the mountains, a river,

listening, understanding the song,

of the waves.

I need deeper roots,

stronger faith,

and more answers,

fewer questions,

more love,

living in the now,

instead of,

my head in the clouds.

As the waves began to sing,

He said, “My son,

keep trusting, keep writing,

keep reading the Book of Psalms,

just be who you are,

and who, you were meant to be.”

Men of Compassion

True Stength

We need some men in this world,

men who know how to teach,

their sons how to respect, and to be faithful,

instead of abusing women,

instead of being consumed,

with their V8 engines,

men who care about the earth,

and take care of her,

instead of only their wallets,

worrying about new taxes,

nonsense.

We need some men, to care about people,

are they only a part of history?

Where have they gone?

Where are the men?

who can see into the universe,

speak like prophets,

and write with fire!

We need to turn off the stupid TV,

and stand up for people,

regardless, of their color,

or which candle they decide to light.

We need to wake up,

stand up, or shut up.

Get a heart men,

and have compassion.

Note: I include myself in this. All too often we are complacent, and apathetic. True compassion means taking action. And I have seen many times where women are hurt – by men.

The Darkness of the Sea

137

It is the darkness of the sea that calls,

into the loneliness, the ones,

that are fear soaked,

covered in thorns,

and bleeding, still caressing,

the wounds.

No others can truly understand,

the need for darkness,

two feet in the sand,

followed by the moon,

an occasional shark gliding,

threatening.

Alone.

No church can reconcile,

no light from the sun,

can penetrate the wall,

or comprehend the beauty,

of the night.

And when the light does break,

the horizon will send,

the soul of barbed wire, running,

hoping and praying,

that what he told the night,

would be ok,

the proclamation,

that the torture would end,

and soon.

He was doing his best,

working through,

the darkness of the sea.

Humanity is an Ocean

Maine and More 154

“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”

Mahatma Gandhi

The Strength of a Giant

There was nothing small about his spirit,

walking tall, in the weeds,

of prejudice, fighting,

pointing to the light,

strengthening the people,

and bringing freedom,

with the strength of a giant.

Note: This is day 2 of the 3 Day Quote Challenge given to me by three different people recently. The poem is an add on, and is mine.

Deeply Rooted

farming with 2 horses

Most farmers have roots sinking deep,

the soil, from generations,

learning sweat, and the songs,

of the earth,

rooted, embedded in the love,

of our mother,

women from India working her strength, growing.

Most women learn their roots,

their backbones, and body aches carrying,

horrible burdens, of other people’s sins,

producing love and children,

the heritage,

wanting the freedom, but always loving.

The first people, came out of the earth,

with so roots so deep,

they were launched into the sky,

forever beautiful,medicine man

but suffering for their strength,

brought low by jealousy,

by those refusing to hear,

refusing their beauty,

not wanting the encouragement,

of the earth.

Not listening to the music.

I wish there were another way,

to grow strong, without pain,

to ascend on wings, that never knew,

the heartache.

So we could experience the joy,

of union,

strength ruling as a king.

For now though,

you and I will be here,

on this rock, this earth,

learning how to fight, learning how,

to love,

and to survive.

Maybe someday.

Oak Trees

green oak tree

How does an oak tree become so strong?

year after year taking the beating,

from the wind and the rain, steadfast,

unyielding in its determination,

to remain true, and to grow.

The roots are what holds it,

firmly planted, growing deep,

into the earth, and always willing,

to give itself up, a sacrifice, to give warmth,

to a family, or food to the squirrels,

growing down, growing up,

and giving, because storms don’t matter.

Growth and strength come from the struggle.

We could learn a lot,

from the oak trees.

 Blessings to everyone and PEACE!
