A Prose Poem

She never wanted to get married, never wanted to be committed. Not a wild life, but choosing to live, wanting to be safe. A church sometimes. The nightmare of her childhood, was gone now, but still lingering in the shadows. Me, I never knew love, until the Chinese food, and talking in the parking lot. I was seeking solutions outside. Not quite a monastery, but the meditation of loneliness. Carrying wounds from my parents. Where is the love?

We were two hearts, running into each other, bleeding on each other, but that was ok.

We paid for our own wedding, our fathers were invisible, mine didn’t want my hands in her Afro. She was still running from pain when she came down the aisle, but I had my arms ready. We were both safe. The most beautiful moments in our lives, two lost souls exchanging rings. Candles were burning in our hearts now. Later, fireworks, and healing from the heat. I wanted her body and soul.

There was a God. There had to be, with this kind of love. Burning, we were converted. And now, some wounds here and there, but smaller, and nothing we can’t handle. Rocks thrown at us, but we are still alive. And still talking in the parking lot, eating Chinese food. Looking into the face, of healing.

Peace.

To the One I Love

Mountains and Rivers 433

There are so many reasons I have,

to hold you in my heart,

in my arms,

it’s not just what you bring,

to the table,

or what you give,

it’s who you are.

You are my eyes when I can’t see,

my heart of compassion,

for others, you taught me,

to care,

to breathe blessings,

living in the forgiving,

to have a heart that makes sense,

and to not let go.

What can I give you in return?

ten thousand roses?

No, I have only one thing I can give,

Myself.

Everything that I am, my faithfulness,

everything that I have,

my heart, and love,

belongs to you only,

I give you myself.

we give each other,

the greatest of gifts,

each other.

In the Shadows

Maine and More 164

When the sun is on the other side,

the rocks cast a shadow,

and I notice you again,

with the background of the waves,

I will never forget,

your face in the wind,

on this rugged coast,

tenderness, and beauty, in the rocks,

pine trees surrounding the queen,

royalty of gentleness,

with a walking stick,

and a smile.

I know it’s time to give in,

no more hiking.

Did you know you had red in your hair?

Wait! Another picture, turn to the side,

yes hold that,

beautiful!

I love the way the shadows,

play with your color, your skin.

You are the most beautiful scenery,

I have ever seen.

Blessings to everyone and peace!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

The View from Our Window

Maine and More 255

Tonight more than any other night,

let’s sit by the window,

so we can take in,

the water, the coastline.

I will always remember Maine,

hiding in our bungalow,

your face reflecting the sun.

Is roast beef ok?

Lost, staring at each other,

remembering the single rose,

on our first date,

I hand you another one.

Hearts melting,

I take your hand in mine,

and bring it to my face,

tears streaming,

flooded with love for you.

I guess the roast beef can wait,

as we close the curtains,

and pull down the shades,

our lips find each other.

Happy Anniversary sweetheart,

you know I love you,

tears and kisses blending,

My Love.

Note: This is about an anniversary celebration from years past. It’s not our anniversary today, but sometimes I do look back on this.

Blessings to everyone and peace!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

The Lightning Bolt

veil

The lightning bolt of you smile,

struck me, when I lifted your veil,

on our wedding day.

10,000 candles surged,

past my eyes,

through my brain,

down into my chest,

far past my body,

and into my soul.

Infusing me with light,

I could see the Creator there,

and He said, “It is good”,

“It is very, very good”,

eternity shining from your eyes,

and suddenly,

I knew the answer to every question,

it was love.

Our kiss that day,

was more than a kiss,

It was a covenant of electricity,

sealing us forever,

together.

And I still say,

“I do”.

Across the Miles

across the miles

I know that when My Love and I are far apart,

You are with us,

watching,

guiding, filling us with prayer,

even when tornados threaten,

on the horizon.

Daily, hourly guarding,

our love, our thoughts,

the negative bounces,

and hope like the wind,

strengthens our weakened knees.

I once knew a man,

with his head in the mountains,

brought down to earth,

with the simplicity of love,

 tangible, sensible,

and life giving love,

regardless of the miles.

Please send the angels,

to keep her safe,

when we are far apart,

and My Love, is across the miles.

 Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

Diamonds in the Sun

blue and purple diamonds

When you look at me there are diamonds,

not only in your eyes, but coming from deep down,

out of the earth, out of your heart alive,

shining, setting me free,

reflecting the sun, in a thousand rays.

How can you be filled with so many emeralds?

rubies and sapphires?

The trials and storms, are the stone cutters,

making you even more beautiful,

chiseled to perfection.

I hate being cut, and worse seeing you cut,

but I will always be grateful,

for the precious stones,

your heart overflowing,

with diamonds in the sun.

Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”
