Dreams of Earth and Sky

blue sky

The peaceful sky of blue,

mixed with white tranquility,

colors floating, causing me,

to dream,

a lullaby of a breeze,

gently stroking my head,

as I lay on the blanket, looking up,

soon I’m in another world,

where there is no violence,

and the earth is born,

with green,

is it heaven?

a lake of life,

giving water,

free, and drinkable,

flowers decorating,

the floor everywhere,blue lake

never having heard,

the noise of a jet, or a truck,

a virgin place untouched.

Is it another planet?

I stir, a car horn,

I’m awake again,

“Dad – time to go!”

Time,

to go back to the grey,

the brown buildings,

missing the canopy of peace,

blue, mixed with white,

back to the noise,

that doesn’t make sense,

may I always remember,

the dreams,

of earth and sky,

and carry them,

with me.

Oak Trees

green oak tree

How does an oak tree become so strong?

year after year taking the beating,

from the wind and the rain, steadfast,

unyielding in its determination,

to remain true, and to grow.

The roots are what holds it,

firmly planted, growing deep,

into the earth, and always willing,

to give itself up, a sacrifice, to give warmth,

to a family, or food to the squirrels,

growing down, growing up,

and giving, because storms don’t matter.

Growth and strength come from the struggle.

We could learn a lot,

from the oak trees.

 Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

Break Away

sunrise in the mountains

Sometimes, when I break away,

I can hear Your voice,

see you in the purity,

of the creation,

not like Moses did,

but in the song, of a cricket,

the stillness of the wind,

the tenderness of a deer.

Speak to me, of Your wonders,

wash me with Your water,

not like a sermon,

but a conversation,

like the Cheyenne,

around the fire,

the sky watching.

You are not distant,

You are here, in the silence,

holiness,

strengthen me, and protect,

this part of creation,

so that I can live,

in the nature, the life,

you have given me.

Return

mountain and lake

When I return to the mountains,

wholeness returns to me,

the windows of my soul,

can be opened, curtains,

pushed aside,

clouds dispersed, by the wind,

His breath of life.

I don’t even need my recurve bow,Spotted

or an Appaloosa,

all I need is my heart,

and two feet to carry me,

far above the clouds,

walking,

getting the big picture,

once again, truth happening.

The reality of deer,

shuffling quietly, the owl,

says, “Who?”

eagle flying“Who is near to you?”

an eagle soaring, close by,

giving me his wings,

of strength,

infusing,

receiving the muscles of faith,

I walk it out,

as the seasons pass by,

in an instant, a cardinal sings,

a love song I remember,

reminding me, of My Love,

so as I sit on a rock, surrounded, red cardinal

by the pine trees, I realize,

there is more to life,

than contemplation.

I will return to the mountains,

again,

but in the meantime,

in the valley,

I will let the creation,

flow through me,

and inspire me,

like wild horses running.

Thanks God.

Searching for the Temple

cave temple

There was never any temple,

nothing substantial,

to grab a hold of,

no Advent,

no candles to light,

no prayer to grow into,

or rosaries to count on,

nothing.

So when tough times came,

we yelled a lot,

or cried,

there was nothing else,

and the church building,

was empty.

So I went into the deep woods,

a youngster,

and met Him there,

not knowing,

who He was,

but I felt He was real, substantial,

and alive.

I came out older,

years of learning, the language,

He is easier to talk to now,

the strength of love,

and people making me smile!

Still, I wish there had been a temple,

growing up, a faith,

something substantial,

to grab a hold of,

a place to learn,

how to live.

Soul

lighting candles

The part of us we cannot see,

searching, yearning,

for the divine,

alive, arms reaching,

to be connected,

heavenward, or at least,

the arms of another soul,

seeing the divine there.

The part of us that travels,

to eternity,

for now breathing,

in our shell,

accepting or rejecting.

Some say empty yourself,

then you will have peace,

others say be filled,

some say do both,

one thing is for certain,

the soul is the part of us,

made in His image,

with the capacity,

for great and wondrous Love.

Contemplation

man

Closing my eyes to see,

there is more,

watching my breathing,

listening,

remembering the oneness,

of silence,

aloneness of light,

serenity though, dividing me,

a double edge, two at once,

of seeker and writer,

seeing, feeling, writing,

write it down.

Is it always this way?

Peaceful paintings,

an eagle glides,

through my mind,

paintbrushes,

a vision,

a stream waiting,

a mountain calling.

Sun.

Am I alone again?

And then He said,

“My son,”

“…you are never alone”

Pine Trees

pine trees on mountain

It was the pine trees,

that caught my attention today,

standing tall.

What do they see,

when they look at us?

Do they see ants?

Do they see our problems,

our messed up world?

They speak serenity,

always green,

peaceful witnesses,

to life,

reaching up,

pointing the way,

to the heavens.

Covering the mountains,

calling to us,

to lay our burdens down.

Sanctuary

rocks and blue

If I ever get to Phoenix,

it will be the rocks,

that impress me,

the desert sanctuary,

eclipsed,

by the neon lights.

I have been in the desert,

sun blazing,

purifying me,

sparing no stupidity,

cleansing me of the city,

grateful for the cactus,

and the lizards as friends,

in awe,

of the overwhelming,

serenity,

the quiet.

If you are ever in the desert at night,

and see the city lights,

don’t be alarmed,

one day the city will pass away,

but there will always be,

a desert sanctuary,

the rocks,

will protect you,

and your spirit,

will soar.

Will You Be There?

comet

If I reach for the sky,

will you be there?

or will there only be the night,

the darkness, the emptiness,

we see from the earth?

I don’t want to be disappointed.

If you are there,

will I be able to feel,

Your presence surrounding me?

would you understand,

my doubt and pain?

Then He showed me the mountains,

the rivers, and lakes,

in a vision,

and He said, “I am here now”

“what do you see?”

I said, “I see peace.”

“…and that You are very real.”

He understood me,

and I know now,

that the many gifts of nature,

are for us all,

so we can see,

so we can comprehend.
