The Last Fish

20160628_203527

Note: This is about a Bird of Prey hunting and may disturb some people.

His wings burned as he turned, into the sky fire apocalypse

but it was the only way to make it, to the lake

he dove head down, down with wings enfolded

a bullet from the heavens

until crashing, breaking

the surface of the water, talons extended

he was all talons flailing

until he caught it

the last fish on planet Earth.

As he slowly flapped now

to his favorite rock,

he did pray for God

to do a miracle, to create

a new Earth once again,

as he devoured fish flesh

for the last time.

The Osprey – The Ultimate Fisher

Osprey on Perch

The Osprey, also known as the Fish Hawk, Sea Hawk, Fish Eagle, and River Hawk, is a large bird of prey, and the only raptor that is recognized to be on all continents, except Antartica. It is about 24 inches long with a wingspan of about 71 inches. Ok so if you do the math, the wingspan, from wing tip to wing tip is about 6 ft.! I love watching these birds (on video) fish!

They are very unusual in that their territory spans across the globe, and there is very little difference in the 4 subspecies. To get a good view of this I have included a map from Wikipedia. The Osprey lives on fish almost exclusively, which explains the population distribution. There are no Osprey in the Sahara!

I have included a short video which is cool because it shows the Osprey actually diving into the water to retrieve the fish. The bird goes all in!

Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

The Osprey

Osprey and Fish

Winged power folded, patient,

waiting, for the next hunt,

then strength launching, flying higher,

circling, surveying the water,

soaring, measuring, calculating,

estimating, distance from the target

when the time is right –

the dive!

A missile propelling downward,

one hundred miles an hour,

extending talons, piercing the water,

grasping the target, and pulling up,

all at the same time.

The majesty of the hunter,

created to be – the fish hawk.
