Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

This weekend we celebrate the birth of one of our greatest Americans, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Have you ever heard one of his speeches? They are amazing!

But how do I write about him today, in these very difficult times, when our scars as a nation threaten our very existence?

Well, I think that we need more people like him. We need women and men that are people of peace, that can speak truth to our circumstances, and show us the way.

Yes we need unity and peace, but not at the expense of truth and justice. Think about this one thing for a moment. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, shot to death.

When I think of this horrible senseless act, it helps me to understand some of the emotions African Americans feel today. There’s George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and so many others that have died unjustly.

There is a lot of pain my friends, more than most of us realize. I don’t think we can handle this much pain.

We need more people like Dr. King…..people of peace, who can speak to our circumstances, and who can show us the way.

May God heal our land…… and heal our people.

Flags and Banners

As I watched on TV that day live, the storming of our Capitol building in Washington D.C., I was struck by how many different flags and banners there were.

Besides the Confederate flags and the Gun Rights flags……wait gun rights? Do we still have that in this country? Seriously? How many more people must die before we change this?

You want to protect your home? Ok. You want to go hunting? Sure. But you don’t need an assault rifle, and you never have.

Now, back to January 6th, The analysis of the flags revealed SIX different white supremacist groups were there that day……SIX groups of people. Did you know that?

One of the flags was Nazi. You remember the Nazis. We fought against them in World War II. Millions upon millions of people died around the world because of them.

There were no Antifa at the riot. That’s another right wing extremist lie, proven to be false by our own FBI. What is Antifa? A group of people, an organization that are ANTI-facist.

You remember the facists, we fought against them in World War II. Millions upon millions of people died around the world because of them.

I’m not extreme in any way, in fact I call myself a moderate now, but I would rather have a cup of coffee and a danish with an Antifa person, than a right wing extremist any day. Hands down, not even close.

My flag is the United States of America.

P.S. By the way if you want to confront Asian hate you need to stop the extremists on the right. It’s always been that way, and always will be.

Note: I’ve only now been able to write about this.

The Creation Will Heal Us

May the strength of our autumn flowers, and the beauty of the mountains

lift us beyond the words of hate and insanity. The creation tells us

of the greater plan, a stronger peace, that will carry

our spirits beyond the sins of the political.

Creation will heal us when

we simply

breathe it in.

Our Ancient History

When all we have, are our hearts and our pens, eagles are born

warriors are resurrected, and love rules our world

with a scepter from heaven, words

creating our humanity.

And our motivation flows from a clean river, hearts

on fire, so that armies of destruction are halted

never able to break into

our dimension. And hate slowly

becomes part

of our unfortunate

ancient history.

The Portal

Mountains and Rivers 010

It was through the stone pillars at the monument that the portal was established. As the angels first stepped through, and overlooked the countryside, they wondered if they were too late. It would be easier this way, to travel through time, instead of space. Only one person in the town looked up and disbelieving what he saw, he turned away. The angels tucked their wings away, and got to work, because time was precious.

What were they here to save us from? From sinners? From pollution? It was the toughest assignment any angel could have. They were here to help us rid ourselves……of hate.

First Friday – We Won’t Be Shaken

When I selected this song recently, I was only beginning to hear about the shootings in Oregon. I did not pick it for that reason. I selected it because, there is strength and encouragement within it that is so beautiful, regardless of your faith.

Sometimes religious people take a lot of heat, and I understand that. I get it for sure, but when tough times happen (and they do happen) we seem to seek even more, that connection with the Creator. And we love to pull together, to offer forgiveness, and support. I’ve seen this several times after these types of shootings.

Please send some positive thoughts and/or prayers to the families of those that lost loved ones.

Crime is so senseless, and we will never understand it. This is a time of healing now though (hopefully).

Whatever we are going through, we will not be shaken. We will forgive, and move on.

Free from the Hate

Maine and More 496

I grew up near the corn,

a state,

where they slap you on the back,

celebrating their “whiteness”,

their superiority.

It is only by His mercy,

that I could see through,

their confederate banner waving,

monsters lived in their hearts,

while the Klan lived with the fire,

of hatred burning,

waiting for their turn,

 searching for a voice,

It is only by His mercy,

that I saw the truth of a mountain,

the peace of the woods,

His love, in creation,

and people,

cultures from around the world,

began speaking,

a young heart wandering in the desert,

to this day, I love India.

It is only by His mercy,

that I’m in my right mind,

instead of hating,

It’s only by His mercy.
