Progressives

It is strange sometimes, sleeping in their camp,

but I understand the fight.

Not wanting just one group, always in control

especially as a child cries for food,

in Brooklyn

and a Grandmother in Detroit

can’t afford her medicine.

No One Knows His Name

100_1194

A poem by St. Francis of Assisi

No one

knows his name –

a man who lives on the streets

and walks around in

rags.

Once I saw that man in a dream.

He and God were constructing

an extraordinary

temple.

The Shoreline

Deep Woods 020

When the elderly lose their shoreline, their safe place,

their searchlight goes missing, the sense of who

they are, and they know we don’t care.

Looking into the wrong mirror they get lost, eating dog food

to stay alive, deciding if they should pay the electric bill

or buy medicine. Being positive becomes a luxury for the rich,

they shake and worry, losing more light but most

don’t need salvation, they just need a good meal

a hand in friendship, to be one

so they can rebuild

their shoreline,

their place of safety

and rediscover

who they are.

What Scares Me

Vacation 854

The Hijabi don’t scare me,

the Buddhist or Hindu don’t either,

they intrigue me,

if you have no faith, that doesn’t scare me,

different opinions are OK, even healthy,

we can disagree, and that’s alright too,

unless you have a gun,

I’m not scared.

But what does scare me are corporations,

firing people for no reason,

so they can hire someone else,

at half the cost.

Governments can scare me, if they don’t care,

about people,

but are obsessed with numbers,

meanwhile the poor wait in line.

A lack of compassion,

is what really scares me,

because we become less human,

and we lose a sense of our selves,

searching for who we are,

in a hand held device.

That’s what really scares me.

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

Transcendence

This is an inspiring video! As we know music can help any situation, and make our world a better place, but in this piece, music is a symbol of hope and life. Music can bring hope!

This is wonderful for many reasons. The music is wonderful, but it also combines Lindsey’s music with modern dance. Watch as different people come alive when they have hope. Life and energy come and live in those having a tough time.

This is one time that I highly recommend watching the commercial! Please, please watch the commercial at the end. It is about the landfill orchestra. I think you will be amazed! There is also an introduction for a program to help children learn leadership skills, called, “Leader in Me”. This is fantastic! Powerful! Remember we truly can make a difference in our world. We can do this!

I wish you PEACE, and have a great week!

P.S. I will be posting some more of the Last People series in a few days.

Cars

Oceans 1351

I like cars especially,

the old ones,

but I know a man,

that spent $800 a month,

for his car payment, and $200

a month, for gasoline,

not including,

his insurance,

and maintenance costs.

Do you realize how many children,

that would feed?

Have we lost our minds?

A Quote on Imagination

Oceans 2034

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

Albert Einstein

Imagination is that part of us that causes creativity. I love this quote, because Einstein helps us to see, that even though knowledge is good and beneficial, imagination goes far beyond knowledge. Our creativity is unlimited! Math will help us to calculate the needs of those caught in poverty, but our creativity, fired by our imagination, will find ways to battle against this plague. Solutions are what we need, and our imagination is the vehicle to get us there.

When you combine love with imagination, then you really have a powerful force!

Have a great Saturday!

Peace.

A Quote and a Poem

ML King

Descendants

When our descendants look back at us,

what will they see?

Will they see people filled,

with compassion?

Or will they see school children,

arguing,

trying to hold on to coins,

saying “mine!”

worrying about taxes.

Will they see open hearts,

working hard, sweating,

to make a difference?

Or will they see us,

with hatred, destroying?

It’s not too late,

there is still time.

God have mercy on us.

It’s Not How Much We Know

Maine and More 269

Nobody cares how much you know, until they know much you care.

Theodore Roosevelt

We see a lot on the TV news about what people think, offering their opinions. To be honest most of them seem very removed from the problems they are discussing. Are they really down in the trenches? Or are they simply thinking about different problems from an academic standpoint?

Some religious people seem to have a problem, with wanting to teach us, and with trying to show us what they believe is the right way. Many have good intentions, but it seems like there is often something missing. I’m not sure if Roosevelt was thinking about a particular group of people, but he saw clearly that people, who think they know a lot, need to have compassion. Without love and compassion what good is our knowledge?

We need to make a difference in our world, not with our arguments proving how right we are, but with our actions and attitudes. This includes showing in practical terms that we care, such as offering to help in some way, which might mean standing with them shoulder to shoulder, being right where they are.

Whether we are religious or not, showing compassion to others, can not only make a difference, but can literally change our world for the better, one person at a time, one circumstance at a time.

Peace.

In Eternity

Oceans 1387

In eternity the colors are brighter,

than anything we can comprehend,

the lonely will be loved,

and the pain will be gone,

no more dying.

There will only be one judge,

instead of many,

to see how much we loved,

how much we helped,

other people.

Did we care?

or just preach our doctrine?

while people starved,

and waited,

for help that never came.

I love the mountains,

and my life here,

but people are what matter,

we were meant to be healing,

He said so,

go for the heartbeat,

with a hand,

of compassion.

I want to see the brightness,

of the colors,

with my brothers and sisters,

standing,

shoulder to shoulder,

thanking,

each other for the help,

we all needed,

caring,

about each other,

even though,

we were,

different colors.
