The Fortress

large-fort

It was snowing that night the wall was completed, not many noticed, tired of the fight.

Yet some conservatives rejoiced in their victory, believing the Enemy was defeated and that they could rest in their holiness once again.

However, the angels in Texas, bowed their heads with tears in their eyes,

began praying for all those stuck inside the Fortress, for those believing that somehow,

in some way, they were righteous, and so having turned their backs

on the poor.

A Mothers Day Blessing

100_1070

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!

May all mothers be blessed today.

May God continue to bless your relationships with your children, and give you the strength to teach the good, and right things. May you always be blessings to each other.

And for all the millions of women, unable to have children and yet pray that they can someday, may you receive comfort in knowing that you are loved, and not forgotten.

And finally to all women fighting cancer or some other horrible illness, may you have the courage to remain positive. You are loved. We do hope and pray for healing.

May we always honor mothers, today and every day.

Amen.

Connected

20160709_140226

“I’m trying to understand this deep connection the people have to their forest,

she talks about a network of energy that flows through all living things.”

From the Movie Avatar

There is something within us, deeply embedded, that makes us want to be connected. Why else would a sunset be beautiful, or mountain air seem so refreshing? Even in our popular culture, like the movie Avatar, we love that connection, or at least seeing it in others.

And we also long to be connected to people, especially our families. It’s good and natural. But many of us also love our communities, and our people.

With nature, we may not be as connected as we used to be, but we can be connected to the creation, and to each other, as long as we respect the earth, and the value of each human being.

There is always hope.

College Days

20150820_145605

In his college days he refused to be chained, but thought there was a God – somewhere. Having come out of the woods of his youth, his spirit found there was a world with other people, and it ran like a machine daily.

Anthropology taught him that farming was probably the best way to live. Natural food was just beginning. He found that night clubs were empty of love, but he was not adverse to women, in fact they were kind of cool.

He had not found his Queen yet, so he enjoyed running at night. Breathing in the street lights, his feet pounding, the sound of his heart racing. He was able to leave the earth, moving through space and time.

It would be a long time before he found her star, but he was a vessel ready, and waiting. And it would be a long time before stained glass meant anything more, than fine art.

He had a lot to learn yet, being just 21.

She’s the One

100_1027

A fighter from an early age,

gleaming sword

yet the power of flowers,

and hands

that know the work,

of love.

Beauty and power

in one,

giving away

and yet taking in.

She’s the one

for me.

The Exodus

Oceans 2029

A Story Poem About First Nations People

Stolen horses,

women robbed,

of everything, teeth knocked out,

young men buried,

under the firewater,

and anger.

The hearts of the people turned darker,

than burnt out logs,

without a spark,

barely living.

They slept with hope,

dreamt of the valley,

where the people were born,

where they could tell stories,

and be free.

So they left in the morning,

five Arapaho families,

quietly walking,

realizing they would be chased,

but they needed their home,

to grow teeth again,

to eat real food,

and to feel the love,

seeing the Creator living.

All they ever wanted,

was peace.

Oak Trees

green oak tree

How does an oak tree become so strong?

year after year taking the beating,

from the wind and the rain, steadfast,

unyielding in its determination,

to remain true, and to grow.

The roots are what holds it,

firmly planted, growing deep,

into the earth, and always willing,

to give itself up, a sacrifice, to give warmth,

to a family, or food to the squirrels,

growing down, growing up,

and giving, because storms don’t matter.

Growth and strength come from the struggle.

We could learn a lot,

from the oak trees.

 Blessings to everyone and PEACE!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”
