Friday Night Culture – Positive Metal

from wallpaper-kid via google

So the music of hard rock and heavy metal has always packed a powerful punch, literally. It is hard driving, and loud. It used to be, and sometimes still is, raw, angry fighting music. And because of that, there can be a dark, negative side, carrying monsters and death. No thanks, I want life not death. But if you put some positive words, and an attitude of hope in it, now you’re talking my language!

The first selection here is raw, and an anthem for not giving up. No matter what happens in our lives (I think there are limits to this) we can overcome. This song is gritty, hard, and loud. Please be careful with your ears! Watch for the hair throwing! I think this style of hard rock is more from the 1990’s. By the way there are three people in the video besides the band. A man involved in perhaps a tragic car accident, a woman fighting cancer, and a teenager that appears to be fighting an eating disorder. Like I said hard, but a sense of hope.

The second song is more of what is known as sonic metal. Listen to the guitars closely, especially in the beginning, and you will hear a sonic, airplane type noise, which is more electronic than the first video. It is also a proclamation of “Hey can we get some help down here??” It’s something we can all relate to. The weird thing too is that these two videos are from the same band! Their looks, style, and sound has all changed. The group is Fireflight.

The last video shows that hard rock has developed a blending of the arts. The poetry here is amazing, there is also nature, and yes loud guitars. The style here I believe is called, symphonic metal. It is admittedly a little strange, but the message is again positive, bringing a sense of hope to the elderly, to the hardest working among us. I love the very ending. The group is Nightwish.

Have a great weekend!

Speak Life

So what does it mean to speak life? Well we often attempt to be positive for ourselves, speaking and thinking good things, which can bring wonderful results in our lives. But as you know life can be tough. One of our greatest needs as humans (especially now) is to stay encouraged and positive.

Speaking life, simply means being positive, being loving, and offering hope to other people. I’m not even talking about being religious. Speaking life means building others up, instead of tearing them down. We can say (and write) things that can make a huge difference in the lives of others. That’s just part of being human!

I was going to share something else tonight, but when I saw this video, I simply had to share it with you! We can inspire other people. My encouragement for all of us is to choose one person, (at least one) to speak life to. I love this video!

“If you love nature, you will love people.”

The music here is beautiful. There is something about love that just changes things completely. I also love the poetry in the lyrics of the song. “Did you see that shooting star tonight?” Lindsey has such a beautiful way of sharing a variety of themes.

I’d like to share a little wisdom from Mrs. Nicodemas. She says forget about the darkness, just keep shining your light. Make sure to be, who you were meant to be. Thank you sweetheart. You know I love you! I’ll keep shining.

We have a wonderful holiday coming up, in the U.S., in just two days!

Keep shining, and I wish you peace!

Up from the Ashes

This is a fighting song! Sometimes the battle gets so intense you begin to believe it is all over, and everything is lost. Our circumstances can be a failed relationship, financial loss, death of a loved one, sickness, or any number of things. But there is life after the ashes.

You may wonder if hard rock music can be positive. Is that possible?? This song is, and there are a number of groups out there, that can infuse us with some positive energy. This group is called The Letter Black.

Sometimes in the fight, you’ve just got to have some good rock music! This song encourages us to keep on breathing. We are not giving up, and we ain’t done yet!

So hold on, buckle up, and be careful with your ears.

Be strong, keep fighting, and I wish you peace!

Good Morning

Sometimes you’ve just got to have some positive music! I know I do. So shake the cobwebs from your head and get your feet moving. Yesterday is behind you now.

You can do this, and have a great week everyone!

Good morning!

So what great wonderful art, music, and/or writing are you going to create today?

American Dream

Do you work too much? I do, I think we all do at some point. After all, we need to do what we can, for ourselves and our families. But there comes a point where our work can damage our relationships. We can easily become obsessed with what we do, and the material benefits we can reap.

This video has a story in it, of one family. Yes there is film of the band playing, but it is also interwoven with a family, not exactly experiencing domestic bliss.

Please be careful with your ears! The guitars here are very loud, which is one of the reasons I like it! I love guitars, add some great drumming, and a positive message, and your talking my language! This is very positive. There’s one line in the beginning I don’t care for, but the rest I love, especially the last line of the song.

So give someone a hug today, and put the work down, just for a few.

I wish you peace, and rest.

Get Back Up Again

Do you ever get discouraged? I do. I think we all do. Regardless of what we face in life, such as broken relationships, financial loss, and even blog stats taking a severe downturn 😦  we can not only live through it, we can keep going. Fortunately I married the most beautiful woman on the planet (inside and out) and she encourages me to keep fighting.

I love the fact that there is always something that motivates us on the inside, to get back up. Some use positive thinking, some have faith, but we all have something in us that tells us not to quit. And if someday I don’t have a blog, I will still keep going. And I will have a lot more free time! But to be honest, I blog because I love to write. Thanks for reading!

Here is a song, be careful with your ears!

For Those Who Wait

I love when a musical group blends a story with their music and video. This is a wonderful film with a positive message. In addition to the music and the band there is a story about a young woman, attempting to become a violinist. She needs to overcome incredible odds in her personal life to continue chasing her dream. It could easily be called “For Those Who Persevere”, or “For Those Who Keep Fighting!”

Look for the music teacher that becomes a mentor. Just awesome! This is rock music, so be careful with your ears. The band is called Fireflight.

Whatever you are facing, keep fighting! Keep chasing your dream. You can do this!

Meant to Live

from wallpaper-kid via google

Yes I know I sometimes act like a teenager! I still love loud guitars, and people dancing Bhangra. Although one person did tell me that 90 year olds can dance Bhangra. One of these days I’ll act my age, but not today!

I love this song and wanted to share it with you. I also like Switchfoot because they have a positive message. Just my style!

We were meant to live! Go for it!

This is loud please be careful with your ears!

Guitars and Drums

Driskill Handmade Guitar
Driskill Handmade Guitar

When I was young I used to bang away at air guitars,

the drums were speaking,

and the air was filled with metal.

When I was older I condemned it all,

I shunned the culture, like the Amish do,

realizing now I was wrong,

pride was condemning.

So, no more negative monsters,

tearing me down, speaking death,

but loud guitars and drums,

speaking with power a positive message,

Not religion just positive,

songs like, Up from the Ashes, Not Gonna Die,

speaking life, not death,

building me up, not tearing down,

rock on.
