New Adventures

100_1679

I’m having a great time writing! I really enjoy this site and I’m so proud of the journey I’ve been taking. Thank you for being a wonderful part of it!

And yet the participation here has been waning, for a variety of reasons, including the summer lull. So I feel a need to stretch my wings, to get involved, and to discover new venues.

Many bloggers have gone to social media, and some have closed down their wordpress sites entirely. So this old guy is going to learn what he can (not knowing a thing) and hang out with people in a new way.

And believe it or not, I’m actually going to start up more blogs! The first new one will be a fiction only site. I love writing fiction but it takes a lot of time, so I will only post there once or twice a week.

After that there will be a music blog! Wahoo!

I will keep you posted. I’ll still be here on Ancient Skies, but maybe a little less.

Peace!

(The guitars are very loud here so please be careful)

Friday Night Culture – Two Cellos!

cello from encylopedia

I never knew two cellos could make such amazing music! I have featured this group before but if you are not familiar with them, they combine the beautiful sounds of the cello, with contemporary music.

I have chosen these three songs because they are so different, yet from the same group. The first has humor, as it explores being a rock star. The second has beautiful music, and is also visually stunning. And the last one is music from a movie, and is funny.

Have a great weekend everyone! Peace.

The Three Drummers

from drummerworld via google

If you like drums you will love this video! First there is one, then two, then three playing at once, all filmed live! I know it’s not Friday night but let’s rock anyway. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

There is Phil Collins, and two other guys, and I wish I knew their names. I’ve never been to a Phil Collins concert before, but if he’s not retired by now, I want to go.

I’m taking the night off from writing, but see you again tomorrow. Hang on, buckle up, because here we go!

Have a great night!

Happy New Year!

Oceans 2221

Happy New Year everyone! May you have good health, peace, and prosperity this coming year! I think we are all hoping and praying, that 2016 will be a good year for our world.

I wanted to thank you all for a great year of blogging here on Ancient Skies! Thank you for all of your wonderful encouragement along the way. Your presence here, as you read my work, is truly a great blessing!

It seems like I just started but it was the summer of 2014. There are over 800 posts on the site now! For those that are new, there is some fiction including historical fiction about First Nations people, a series centered around sailing, called The Escape, and more recently the Last People on Planet Earth series. And there is plenty of poetry!

I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Here is my version of getting rowdy tonight, but please, please, fasten your seatbelts, hold onto your chairs, and be careful with your ears! The group is Switchfoot.

Happy New Year!

Thunderstruck

Is this how rock music got started? I don’t think so! I love this video because it blends classical music with rock. Or does it blend rock music with classical?

It’s complete with 1700’s costumes, amazing cello playing, and has a surprise at the end. I won’t spoil it, but I think there a message in the ending, which speaks against snobbery and arrogance. It’s always tough to be different!

These guys are amazing. Enjoy!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Up from the Ashes

This is a fighting song! Sometimes the battle gets so intense you begin to believe it is all over, and everything is lost. Our circumstances can be a failed relationship, financial loss, death of a loved one, sickness, or any number of things. But there is life after the ashes.

You may wonder if hard rock music can be positive. Is that possible?? This song is, and there are a number of groups out there, that can infuse us with some positive energy. This group is called The Letter Black.

Sometimes in the fight, you’ve just got to have some good rock music! This song encourages us to keep on breathing. We are not giving up, and we ain’t done yet!

So hold on, buckle up, and be careful with your ears.

Be strong, keep fighting, and I wish you peace!

Welcome to the Jungle

Ready to have some fun? This is cello music like you’ve never seen it before! These guys take playing the cello to another whole level. Their intensity and energy are amazing. Unless you have seen them before, I’m sure you will be surprised.

I love the mellow sound of the cello and always have, but this is a combination of classical and rock. When I place a song here that has loud guitars, I usually say be careful with your ears – well now I’m saying it for the cellos! Hang on, buckle up, and enjoy the ride!

The group is called 2Cellos.
